I think the co-essentiality of Parkin and Oma1 is indeed the most stricking finding and that it is indeed via fusion. How is the mtDNA maintenance actually regulated in these conditions is still a mystery to me

For example liver looks very different. Perhaps there is a tissue-specific differences in fusion rates

We tried Parkin KD in our MEFs and could boost the mtDNA levels up a little bit. So there is definitely a link there 😅
