The inset image shows Terita Deare, Plan Vivo and Putra from YIARI on location in West Kalimantan. The quote by Terita reads 'closing the climate and nature funding gap depends on practical pathways for the private sector to invest in a nature-positive future – one that incentivises private finance and channels it directly to the communities and landscapes that need it most.'
🌍 As the UK hosts #IPBES12 in Manchester, Business and Finance Day puts the spotlight on the private sector’s role in accelerating #NaturePositive outcomes.
🔑But mobilising capital is only the first step. Real impact depends on who holds power, where finance flows, and how it’s used, by whom.
💧Wetlands are more than just water and reeds; they’re where culture and environment intertwine.
On #WorldWetlandsDay, we spotlight funded project ILWGAWS, working to protect one of Ghana’s most ecologically significant wetlands: the Greater Amanzule🌿

3. Informed Consent Free, Prior and Informed Consent is essential to building trust and long-term collaboration, giving communities time, information, and agency needed to shape research in ways that reflect their knowledge and priorities.
4. Communications and Transparency Clear, inclusive, and transparent communication is vital to research, supporting trust, informed decision-making, social inclusion, and stronger connections with and between local community groups.
5. Power Dynamics Understanding and addressing power dynamics - among researchers, communities, and within households - is essential to ensuring equitable participation, confident engagement, and shared ownership of research outcomes.
🌍 GCBC projects from Panama to Ethiopia, Madagascar to Vietnam show how local partnerships make research equitable, meaningful and grounded in real community needs.
Inclusive engagement boosts conservation success and shared outcomes.

Image says: 1. Early and Continued Engagement Meaningful partnerships with IPLCs work best when engagement starts early, continues throughout the research, and is built on long-term relationships, ongoing dialogue, and shared evaluation.
2. Community-Led Research Framing Research is most effective when IPLCs help co-create the research questions from the outset, ensuring agendas align with their own priorities, knowledge, and ways of working.
