If you’re still on the fence, I recommend Thulcandra, modern band who do the dissection sound wonderfully. Dark Fortress, 90s Immortal, old man’s child, and Windir are all bands from their era that are phenomenal

Yeaaahh dissection is a rough one because I absolutely ADORE their sound, however he IS currently dead so I don’t pay TOO much mind to it since he won’t receive anything from it, unfortunately it’s a lot just down to how you personally separate art from artist

highly recommend looking into the Swedish and German scene from the mid to late 90s, Greece’s scene is also heavily leftist (Rotting Christ for example are borderline anarchists)
