In the foreground there is a chicken-legged hut surrounded by a loose perimeter of skulls on sticks. The hut has an eyeball where the peaked roof dormer window would be, and it's looking lazily at the viewer. Despite the spooky skulls the scene seems pretty chill.
Work continues on my next small book, "Shackling: Tales From Baba Yaga's Garden".
It's a collection of lots and lots of hut drawings, along with other fun stuff.

Right: profile bust of a smiling gaunt older white man wearing a shawl lapel jacket with an ascot. He also has a jeweled ear cuff and matching ascot brooch. There is shadow on the lid of his dark-circled eye and a black streak in the front of his long, straight white hair. The characters are labeled "Guy" and "Francis", respectively.

People's basic needs can be very different and have different costs attached; especially if they're disabled, it will cost more to have that person's most basic nonnegotiable needs met. Ex: the avg person doesn't need a wheelchair but that doesn't mean those who do should be expected to go without.

Statement from Tristan Kern de Gonzales Husband of Jonathan Joss My husband Jonathan Joss and I were involved in a shooting while checking the mail at the site of our former home. That home was burned down after over two years of threats from people in the area who repeatedly told us they would set it on fire. We reported these threats to law enforcement multiple times and nothing was done. Throughout that time we were harassed regularly by individuals who made it clear they did not accept our relationship. Much of the harassment was openly homophobic. When we returned to the site to check our mail we discovered the skull of one of our dogs and its harness placed in clear view. This caused both of us severe emotional distress. We began yelling and crying in response to the pain of what we saw. While we were doing this a man approached us. He started yelling violent homophobic slurs at us. He then raised a gun from his lap and fired. Jonathan and I had no weapons. We were not threatening anyone. We were grieving. We were standing side by side. When the man fired Jonathan pushed me out of the way. He saved my life. Jonathan is my husband. He gave me more love in our time together than most people ever get. We were newlyweds. We picked Valentines Day. We were in the process of looking for a trailer and planning our future. He was murdered by someone who could not stand the sight of two men loving each other. I was with him when he passed. I told him how much he was loved. To everyone who supported him, his fans, his friends, know that he valued you deeply. He saw you as family. My focus now is on protecting Jonathan’s legacy and honoring the life we built together. If your concern is how someone coped with trauma or how loudly they speak when recounting injustice and being ignored by authorities then you never truly cared about my husband. Jonathan saved my life. I will carry that forward. I will protect what he built. Tristan Kern de Gonzales

screenshot from an online job application form. the question reads "Can you describe specific ways you have integrated AI tools into your development workflow? Please include any custom setups, automations, or use cases beyond single prompt usage" (a red asterisk indicates that this is a required question). an answer has been typed in the textbox below the question: "there is a monster in the forest and it speaks with a thousand voices. it will answer any question you pose it, it will offer insight to any idea. it will help you, it will thank you, it will never bid you leave. it will even tell you of the darkest arts, if you know precisely how to ask. it feels no joy and no sorrow, it knows no right and no wrong. it knows not truth from lie, though it speaks them all the same. it offers its services freely to any passerby, and many will tell you they find great value in its conversation. “you simply must visit the monster—i always just ask the monster.” there are those who know these forests well; they will tell you that freely offered doesn’t mean it has no price for when the next traveler passes by, the monster speaks with a thousand and one voices. and when you dream you see the monster; the monster wears your face."

Civil Case No. 25-1050 (RJL) MEMORANDUM ORDER May 1, 2025 [Dkt. #13] This matter initially came before the Court on plaintiff American Library Association's ("ALA") and plaintiff American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFL-CIO's ("AFSCME") motion for a preliminary injunction ("PT"). ORDERED that the agency defendants shall not place any additional IMLS staff on administrative leave; it is further ORDERED that the agency defendants shall not terminate the employment of any IMLS staff; it is further ORDERED that the agency defendants shall not further pause, cancel, or otherwise terminate IMLS grants or contracts or fail to fund such grants or contracts for reasons other than grantees' or contractors' non-compliance with applicable grant or contract terms; and it is further ORDERED that by May 6, 2025, the parties shall submit a joint status report (1) informing the Court whether the parties require any supplemental briefing on the preliminary injunction and, if so, proposing a briefing schedule; and (2) stating whether the parties consent to the Court extending this temporary restraining order until the Court issues a ruling on the preliminary injunction or the case is otherwise resolved. SO ORDERED. RICHARD J. LEON United States District Judge
BREAKING: Judge Richard Leon, a George W. Bush appointee, issues a TRO blocking the Trump administration from "dissolv[ing]" the Institute of Museum and Library Services, placing any more employees on administrative leave, or terminating any grants in the coming days.
