One reason we need to stake out the maximalist position on what happens to ICE agents & Trump officials afterwards both loudly and often is that it's morally correct, but another is to make it clear to political opportunists that "we must look forward, not backward" shit will end their careers

[upbeat zohran voice] I'm here at the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany, where 80 years ago some important progressive work started [smash cut] but hasn't ended. So here's what we're doing:

It's been a while, but the people I knew who called themselves leftcoms were all in the councilist/syndicalist end rather than the Bordiga-fan end.

House Democrat Says Abolishing ICE Isn’t Enough β€” DHS Must Go, Too β€œThe problem isn’t β€˜training.’ DHS was built to violate our rights,” said Rep. Delia C. Ramirez.

Amid growing calls for the abolition of ICE, Rep. Delia Ramirez is calling for the entire DHS to be dismantled. Highlighting how much experience the officers who killed Renee Good and Alex Pretti had, Ramirez said, β€œDHS was built to violate our rights and has been empowered to act with impunity.”

The CW Green Arrow was trying to be this. Mostly it was CW, but it was also this.

it is impossible to miss the difference between the names you see in newspaper headlines and the names you don't see in newspaper headlines

Do you put stock in custom harness things like pi?
github.com/badlogic/pi-...
And do you spend time on things like custom skills or agents, or do you just go with whatever the first-party harness does?

So talking about these tools like they're general productivity improvements hides the necessary workflow changes that make them useful, instead of slop generators.

It seems like the people I respect who have gotten useful stuff out of these things (say, fasterthanlime) are doing it by having really aggressive testing strategies, and treating the models more like 12 million monkeys writing shakespeare with a very good spellchecker set up.

25.01.2026 15:14 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Like, people's self-reported productivity improvement I think is mostly slot-machine dopamine hits, and the studies of negative productivity fall into the same 'oops all students' problem that the studies 'disproving' the usefulness of types or unit tests do.

I've been messing around with these things after being generally a skeptic. I don't think the productivity claims in either direction are real.

They've demonstrated that they will release their goons from prison if they get power again, with the J6 crowd. So if the plan is 'imprison ICE', then it has to include 'Republican party never takes power again' for that to stick.

I don't think there is any shortcut or technical fix that can get around breaking the power of the Republican party. Anything you want to implement to help reach people or bring people together is only going to be possible when orgs like Fox or TPUSA are subject to real consequences.

The important thing about having the government point the guns is that it's a credible threat of the government doing it again in the future.

But if we put off the conflict until we have a majority, what happens if our 'majority' wants to let ICE keep killing people.

A huge part of Spirit Crossing's visual style is the cel-shading and outlines! Everything is modeled for the appearance of these shaders and how it renders in Unreal. That means using soft edges where you don't want an outline and hard edges where you do.🧡

An unmaintainable codebase is caused by social or economic factors (the manager wants a feature factory, the company has no real competitors, etc). If the same incentives are in place, then an LLM is just a way to go faster in an awful direction.

What's the distinction between GM-less and multiple GMs? Like, multiple GMs is you take turns being the one GM?

While we’re in the streets demanding ICE Out For Good, Democratic leaders are dodging questions about whether an agency that teargasses babies and kills innocent people should continue to have a budget bigger than most countries’ militaries. It’s pathetic.

"defund the police" is where things ended up at, because every police reform victory ended up meaningless because cops could and did ignore them, and that was possible because they could and did threaten local government officials who would have to actually enforce those reforms.

I'm still not sure how much of the job market is really end-of-zirp and Biden-tax-writeoff correction. But I am real worried about the empire of shit. I'm convinced these things are useful now, but they still empower bad actors, copycats, and slop. Legacy software stamping on a human face forever.
