Armour, or metals in general, are probably my most favourite material to paint. I often struggle with fabric and flowy things as I can never truly decide which direction I should go.

Another Yria character commission is complete. :) Yria illustrations feature characters by supporters of Myre, who will see their characters woven into the lore of Yria and the worldbuilding of Myre. It's one of my favourite concepts to bring to life, and also not the first of its kind.

Cover for the Noss: Prelude album by Fox Amoore. An anthropomorphic fox watches the lights inside a dome turn lavender and cyan. Twin peaks at the center of the dome are split by a mile-wide column of vines that stretches to form the dendritic bright sky. The monumental mountain is steep and sharp, holding little snow despite its height. The mountainous landscape around it is verdant and full of rivers, with more vine columns rising to hold up the domed sky.

The hardest part is always finding that idea that slaps. The rest is pure flow, like watching a movie in my head and capturing the moments. Even stick figures bring joy when the spark hits.

I might dig out the ones with googly eyes next time. ;p

Don't worry about perfection when you capture an idea!

One thing that helped me work faster & with confidence is getting ideas on the canvas fast and having fun with it. I scribble roughs for comics without worrying about perfection. The sooner I visualise an idea, the more it can grow in my mind.

A concept from 2020, rigth before I started working on MYRE Vol. 2. I decided for matte metal here whereas in the comic, Sarya's armour is polished and reflects everything nearby. :)
