The story of the first half to me is the return of self-imposed mistakes. Too many unforced errors. #jaguars

My 3rd in-person #jaguars game of the year, and it’s a playoff game. We beat the 49ers and the Raiders with me in the stands, that clearly must mean something, right?

There’s going to be fists thrown before the end of this game #jaguars

That’s a lot of money and years for CVL. I appreciate what he’s done this year, but that looks like a deal we could regret in October of year 1. #jaguars

I liked being aggressive, but the play call reminded me of 2024; it felt like Coen was trying to outsmart our opponents instead of just executing.

I was reading a not-particularly-well-written far future science fiction novel from Kindle Unlimited this week when a rogue β€œChatGPT said:” turned up in the text. I’m not sure if I was more disappointed I was reading an LLM’s work product or that the editor missed it.

I wonder if they saw receiver as the team’s biggest weakness or if it was just the most impactful one they could find an acceptable trade for.

The Jays didn’t get it done, but the Jags are 2-0 this year when I’m in the stands. Maybe I should go to Arizona and Denver after all?

There are problems all over the place but the team fixed my biggest concern from last year, and is winning their share of one score games. It’s amazing we have a legitimate shot at the playoffs in Coen’s first year. The offseason will be fascinating as I expect a lot of turnover.

I get to watch the Jags win in person, and the Jays get it done and win the division. A good Sunday, I think.

Manager: "What's this milestone 'Living on a prayer' ?"
Me: "That's the documentation deliverable."
Manager: "What's the status of that?"
Me: "We're halfway there"
Manager: "Why is progress so slow?"
Me: "You fired Tommy"
Manager: "So?"
Me: "Tommy used to work on the docs"

I first encountered this with YouTube creators trying to avoid demonetization. It might be the first time I noticed the influence of big tech on language development (even if it had been happening for years by then).

I’ll say yes, but that assumes that the system owner’s cooperation counts. I’d rather work with and through the system owner.

There will be significant effects on national security from these CISA budget & personnel cuts.
There has also been a general sharp downturn in cyber spending & jobs across the board in the private sector.
The net effect is a nation weakening as attacks increase.

Hey DFIR Peeps! I am hiring incident responders in two locations - Boulder, CO and Sunnyvale, CA. It'd be hard to find a bigger CSIRT with more scope and more interesting stuff to do than this one. :D

It's 2025 - please stop using the terms whitelisting and blacklisting. Yes, I know many of these terms were acceptable when you were growing up.

Continuing to use them today shows you're unable to adapt to change, which particularly in high-change environments like cybersecurity, is NOT a good look

C, but I’d take a pretty lopsided offer to get out of that spot. Surely someone gives up something for Sanders.

Serious question: How many RSA Conference participants from outside the US will pull out, not willing to risk denied entry or detention?

Related question: How many actually are denied entry or detained? We'll probably never know the first number, but the second number won't be zero...

Sometimes I worry that holing up during COVID destroyed my ability to have normal conversations with people, but then I remember that I lacked the ability to be normal in conversations way before 2019.

4 panel of a comic style drawing. First panel has a T-rex doing a standup comic routine with a speech bubble containing the words "What's the difference between a light bulb and a cybersecurity professional?" Second panel has these words in the speech bubble "A light bulb stops working when it burns out." Third panel has a drawing of sad looking dinosaurs while the fourth panel has the T-rex stand up comedian with tears on its eyes.

This is my annual reminder to y'all wonderful folks in infosec: please take care & you're important. Your physical & mental health are important aspects of your life. The work we do & the environments we work in can significantly impact these. There is no shame in taking care of yourself first.πŸ’œ

When someone mentions the Jags in my feed, I have to look twice to determine if they’re talking about the football team, the car maker, or the lawyers.
