Ford is a corrupt crony goon who has done countless shady backroom deals. He wants to remove one of our most powerful tools to hold him accountable. Fuck that!

Also- homeroom teachers? Not planning time, French, special education workers, ECEs, librarians….

Nah- this generous offer will be the reason that salary increases are not possible on the upcoming round of contract negotiations- followed by an unfortunate cancellation of the centralized purchasing program due to unforeseen circumstances.

Although the details are not here, I bet my hat that an equivalent (or more) amount of money will come out of board budgets. Delivery of this stupid idea, in a fluid education system will be a nightmare and a waste of precious edu dollars.
It solves a problem that no one in the system prioritizes.
Cannot wait to see the logistics of this disaster in the making.

In a location that makes it quite inaccessible for students who aren’t from the GTA. Getting downtown to the waterfront within a school travel day is hard, and getting worse traffic wise.
And wants to build a tunnel under the 401. And spends countless dollars challenging court cases he’s already lost and advertising costs to tell everyone how awesome his government is.

Ford is uniquely and completely unqualified to comment on the education system.
He clearly thinks that education and job training are the same thing and has no desire for a well rounded population with critical thinking skills.

To be certified to teach Intermediate ( Gr 7-10) you require a ‘teachable’ supported by your own university degree. If you aren’t going to use some version of a rotary model, what purpose does that requirement serve? Obviously someone believe(d) that it matters.
Some school boards don’t actually even have middle schools at all- the elementary panel has only K-8 schools.
I agree though - the soft launch of the high school model is helpful as Int. teachers can share their strengths and interests their teachables.
And yet - your 2 party system is not working so well either. No one outside of the US thinks your system works either.
To get “home care” for my daughter post day surgery, I had to drive her to their clinic🤷🏻
The nurses were lovely, but having to get her into the car and drive 16 hrs post surgery was awful. How is that home care?
So nice ( dripping sarcasm) that the chair of Metrolinx and the board and premier have decided they have learned all the right lessons.
