First up, Alaska Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management

What would have been a viable alternative to securing the materials? Inserting a team to secure them?

I’d estimate that 85% of that patch board (and the license plate below it) trades or were given to me.

Thank you! In all honesty it’s a mix, some are purchased, but I’d say the majority were obtained through trades w/ colleagues, or were given to me by a partner that I’ve done something with (training/exercise, special events, incidents, etc) - most of the really rare stuff you can’t buy anyway.

I’m excited to cross something off my professional bucket list this week. The FDNY CT Leadership Program is the standard for fire/EMS education on issues of terrorism & security & I’m honored to be here as a speaker/guest. For a lifelong FDNY “buff” this is a dream come true.

Had a great time speaking with the Univ. of New Haven Homeland Security & EM Association this afternoon - speaking about the field in general and potential career paths.

Great mix of majors including homeland, EM, cyber, criminal justice, forensics, & my personal favorite - fire science!

Right. DHS I&A has no authority to investigate terrorism, so the least they could do is maintain data on the subject.

I have a similar problem trying to find data on threats to healthcare facilities/personnel. No authoritative dataset exists.

A question I ask myself on a daily basis…

That and the Byzantine hiring system are a big part of why I don’t really have any interest in working for the feds.
