I would die at the chance to do a Spider-Man comic all about the people he protects in his friendly neighborhood. Stories of everyday New Yorkers who had run-ins with Spidey, and had their lives changed.

And I mean, god, I’d have to see if the legend Mark Bagley was available.

"I guess I have a very different view of the dangers and real-world consequences of your position than what you explored with Justice Kavanaugh. My understanding was that independent agencies exist because Congress has decided that some issues, some matters, some areas should be handled in this way by nonpartisan expertsβ€”that Congress is saying that expertise matters with respect to aspects of the economy and transportation and the various independent agencies that we have.

"So having a president come in and fire all the scientists and the doctors and the economists and the PhDs and replacing them with loyalists and people who don't know anything is actually not in the best interest of the citizens of the United States."

Screen grab: I have made an attempt to cast as wide a net as possible; to present exactly 25 stories that display the extensive range and diversity in the field. To showcase a multiplicity of genres and voices. Whether you consider them specifically weird fiction, or not, they are stories that sit, perhaps uneasily, in the borderlands of the fantastic.

I had a good 2025, fiction wise, with three published short stories, a novelette (cowritten with Mercurio D. Rivera), a short story collection (my first), and a novel.

If you are reading for awards consideration or "best of" collections, the following list may be helpful:

As Nebula nominations are opening up, I would like to offer my novelette, "Phantom View," which is free-to-read at Reactor! It's a story of disabilities and the supernatural that I've always wanted to write.

Anyone got any good recommendations for novellas that are:

a) recent (ideally 2025)
b) available as audiobooks
c) none of the ones in the image (I've read those)

Cover of novel "Metallic Realms" by Lincoln Michel. A grid-like composition showing the Brooklyn bridge and a space scene of a ringed planet and suited astronauts beneath the title in classic comix colors.

I was set to list my favorite books of 2025 a week ago, but @thelincoln.bsky.social came in under the wire with Metallic Realms. A Trekkie's book like Redshirts or Galaxy Quest: you have to love Star Trek to really enjoy how goofy and lampoonable it is. Wild on talent and fandom.
