I read All the President's Men for the first time last year!
My favourite non-fiction:
The White Album by Joan Didion
Eve's Hollywood by Eve Babitz
Fun Home by Alison Bechdel
Pictures of a Revolution by Mark Harris
The Red Parts by Maggie Nelson
Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell
Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe
Nixonland by Rick Perlstein
I do need to read this one.
Loved Radium Girls and Midnight in Chernobyl. I bought Challenger for my mum because she's fascinated by that story (and also ones of people who died while climbing Everest.)
Say Nothing is really excellent. Very excited for his new book which comes out next month.
You had me at bear.
Loved Radium Girls.
I'm on a real non-fiction kick right now. Please recommend to me your favourite non-fiction books.
He is extremely excited to be Mr. Morena in the book too. I respect it.
Really enjoyed reading this while on my trip.
It's Yeats.
Dublin souvenirs.
I've sadly lost quite a few subscribers since moving my newsletter from Substack, so I would greatly appreciate it if you signed up now that it's on Ghost.
Diane Warren wants an Oscar for Best Original Song. Her ceaseless thirst would be easier to embrace if the past decade of nominated songs weren't all drivel.
I wrote about the relentless Warren Oscar hunt for @pastemagazine.bsky.social.

The name of this singer is David Byrne.
The first ever copy of Ulysses!
Went to the National Gallery of Ireland and Museum of literature today.
Feeling fancy for Dublin.
Do it! The Abbey is gorgeous and always has on something interesting. I saw a play last year with Tommy Tiernan from Derry Girls!
It was fun! Good solid dark comedy. I laughed a lot.
In Dublin for a couple of nights. Saw a play at the Abbey Theatre. Sadly, zero rugby players spotted since the airport.
It's just like home!
The entire Scottish rugby team was on my flight to Dublin.
Christina Applegate’s Memoir is One of the Bleakest Celebrity Autobiographies I’ve Ever Read (And That’s a Good Thing)
The guy who made Inside Out spewing that line is especially offensive.
I am genuinely a little flabbergasted by how some people seem to truly hate Hamnet. I know we got through this awards season without a villain but we don't need to turn a perfectly lovely historical drama about grief and art into Crash-esque mess.
I'm actually going to be in Dublin this week do it was an apt viewing choice.
Oscar Season makes people wild.
Yeah, I say that in the piece.
