and this isn't to say that i think we can understand everything or that anything has one singular reason for happening etc. context can give clues but not always answers. sometimes there might not be answers. i guess i'm just baffled by people who lack curiosity about the complex world they live in.

something absolutely crazy to me is that i know a few grown adults who live basically context-less lives who lack any interest in learning or having context. things happen in the world and in their own lives and they don't even have the beginnings of a reference point to understand how or why. wild.

Could the Iran war energy shock accelerate the transition to renewables? The war on Iran has sent fuel prices soaring, pushing the world into another energy shock. Could a transition to clean energy shield countries against future crises?

fingers crossed.

and those people need to be kept away from having any decision making power in any society. fuck. i don't even think they should be given their own separate insular societies due that creating insane amounts of child abuse.

and the thing is, i'm not some rabid atheist either. i'm open to things beyond what we can measure and observe. i've done enough psychedelic drugs to see pretty clearly that reality is crazier than we can know. but saying “no”, not just “no”, but “no, fuck you” to bad beliefs needs to be normalized.

this is a reason you don't tolerate the intolerant. this is a reason people have to say “no, that's stupid” to people who have stupid beliefs. this is a reason why all education should be free and accessible. this is a reason billionaires shouldn't be allowed to exist. etc etc ad nausea ad nausea.

with the help of paranoid billionaires who own everything and feckless shitlibs, we (collectively) slowly allowed evangelical christian death cultists into the highest rungs of power so they can hurt everyone and possibly destroy all of life for their stupid idiotic mythological delusions.

some good news. american renewable energy growth has gone up massively despite donald trump's attempts to squash it. this is due to rising fossil fuel prices (war with iran doesn't help) and renewables like solar being the faster and more economical way to add power to the grid.

keeping a population uneducated and uninformed keeps that population from being able to understand their own oppression lacking the ability to even conceptualize a different world. this is standard isolated religious cult brainwashing shit btw. this is also how abusers keep victims under control.

interesting and exciting that one of the things helping countries withstand trump's tariff threats is renewable energy (solar and wind power) it's almost like it's a solution to a lot of the world's problems while fossil fuels are the cause of a lot of the world's problems. who would've thunk it?

i guess the reason for mentioning this, aside from the dystopian nature of it all, is wtf youtube do you even have moderators anymore? you'll demonetize content creator's videos for basically nothing yet you'll allow advertisers to deepfake political leaders to sell cryptoscams??

at my barber yesterday—they play music off youtube via a tv—an unusually long ad played that was an ai deepfake of pm carney speaking at a podium done up to look like a press conference selling what i assumed was some kind of cryptoscam. was weird to hear the pm say “scan the qr code on the screen.”

if a gen ai model can create csam, it was probably trained on csam. think about that.

individualism is such a sham. you are the environment and you don't exist without it. you are society and you don't exist without it. we've been limited to understanding who we are based solely on what we're capable of having direct agency over. we've limited ourselves to a cell within the organism

AI boom has caused same CO2 emissions in 2025 as New York City, report claims Study author says tech companies are reaping benefits of artificial intelligence age but society is left to pay cost

“The environmental cost of this is pretty huge in absolute terms…At the moment society is paying for these costs, not the tech companies. The question is: is that fair? If they are reaping the benefits of this technology, why should they not be paying some of the costs?”

minimalist design is dogshit. removing or hiding information from the user does not make a simpler or easier-to-use ui/ux. minimalist interior design makes your home look sterile and uninviting, not comfortable and clean. stop smoothing out your brain by removing the details from your environment.

Just so I'm clear on this, computer memory has tripled in price because a bunch of it that hasn't been produced yet has been ordered to populate GPUs that aren't installed in data centers that aren't built yet in order to service a demand that doesn't exist to make profits that don't happen.

LNG is Not in Canada’s National Interest. Renewables are Best for Jobs, Health, & the Economy. - Sierra Club Canada LNG / gas is NOT in Canada's National interest. 72% of Albertans wish to maintain or increase action to transition Canada to clean energy.

you know corporate lobbyists are in control when governments go against all available evidence. its known fossil fuel projects are a bad investment and will only end up flushing millions of taxpayer dollars down the toilet. so can we just, not do this?
