What are peoples thoughts on the 'Companion' Ai that seemingly exploded recently? i seem to get bombarded a lot by the ads and it got me curious and ended up trying them, they are surprisingly coherent and fun? i am still weird out by those who have it on their PC as a 'partner'.

Yeah true, thankfully I don’t use Ai for for research or to look up info on topics , generally been using it to help setup Google formula or sql stuff which has really excelled my skills for work , especially with making things efficient , taking already existing queries and making them faster

Yeah of course, and that is a general problem with simple googling as well and why you shouldn’t site one thing as a source of truth. That being said with the amount of copy and paste between news articles as a good example or they self source themselves it’s difficult

I do think it should be used to enhance our life and make things easier, but guard rails need be in place to have it not reach a point where it replaces us in any form.

There are always going to be issues with it, there is no doubt about that, with the theft of content creation to train Ai models being the top issue with Ai, particularly with artwork in the fandom.

And I don’t want to ever pay for or promote Ai work that does include such things. (Pt 4)

With that in mind, I do not want to see it as a justification to remove people out of jobs as it was something that was rather prevalent in the the last few years as companies fire half their company just to replace them with a half baked product. (Pt 3)

So my opinion has shifted quite a bit around the topic. It’s a tool for collating information, helping with formula , programming , basically replaced my endless googling to find an answer.

So I see it as a means to enhance my work life, to make things more efficient. (Pt 2)

Ai is a mixed response across the community and and I was originally in the train of hate when it really kicked off with ChatGpt4 when it really hit the media.

However, since then it’s ended up integrated with work (we run on google suite of stuff) so Gemini is so always present these days (pt 1)
