I feel like our country was on its way to UBI in the 1960s. Then the Bluedogs’ racism and insurance companies’ greed took over and stopped Medicare For All and we got Reagan who canceled public housing, restricted welfare with new requirements.

I mean, I know some excellent people in Texas, some born there, others just migrated, including my oldest son. They're all in fairly blue areas though. Also, we went to our first Buccees in March (and 2nd) and I truly wish they were everywhere.
