04.02.2025 20:29 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0After a bit of struggle, I finally managed to port Jason Webb's experiment (with p5js) on differential growth to OPENRNDR. It's still "raw," but I'm happy with those early results since I'm a beginner in Kotlin & OPENRNDR.

I'm trying for the 1st time to implement an L-system that simulates a plant using "The Algorithmic Beauty of Plants" book and I love it. The rules are simple, yet they produce complex drawing quickly.

Data source: Forbes Billionaires Evolution dataset via Kaggle
Plus you can export videos directly via the ScreenRecorder extension without extra tweaks so I'm really liking it so far and I'll try to dig it deeper.
29.01.2025 09:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've been experimenting with #openrndr for the first time and I love how performant it is compared to what I've experimented with Py5 in my last genuary post below.
It runs smoothly at 60 FPS where it took several seconds per frame on py5 for almost the same algorithm.
Infinite Scroll.

I've experimented a ton of prime combos and was astonished to see how this could impact the overall look without touching the rest of the code

You can find my work on both YouTube and TikTok:
For the moment both have the same content but I may start specializing the content for each platform later.
Moving forward, I plan to work on more animations and try animated data visualizations. Exploring this field would allow me to reconnect with a discipline I've experimented in the past and truly enjoyed. Iβm also considering explaining computer science algorithms, since thatβs my original field.
27.01.2025 12:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's it for now! My last animation was just published today, and I hope you'll enjoy it.
Let me know if you have any questions about these animations. Iβd be happy to share tips about py5, p5.js, or Manim.
Finally, I returned to geometric patterns with a tutorial on creating a 10-pointed star. This was inspired by Jay Bonnerβs book, Islamic Geometric Patterns, which delves into the Girih construction process. Great resource if you're interested in Geometrical Patterns! www.youtube.com/shorts/ZzEjf...
27.01.2025 12:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0For this animation, I combined Manim with py5, an implementation of processing in python. Py5 made it easier to handle the pixel-by-pixel Game of Life simulation in the background, especially compared to the challenges I faced earlier with Manim.
27.01.2025 12:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Next two animations are the first ones where I added my voice! My first attempt was explaining the "Game of Life" algorithm. I'm still learning a lot about this so it's far from perfect and I need to work on my English accent π but it's a step forward www.youtube.com/shorts/r6iUQ...
