This Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember and honour those who have lost their lives to transphobic violence. All trans people deserve to live their lives safely with dignity and with joy.

The Summer Day
Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean -
the one who has flung herself out of the grass, the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down - who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down into the grass, how to kneel down in the grass, how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields, which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
Mary Oliver

If you need a little lift this evening, I just heard that National Trust colleagues are installing hedgehog ramps inside cattle grids so if you’re small and prickly and you accidentally go in, you can accelerate out again.

Obligations 2
By Layli Long Soldier

                                                   As we

                                        embrace resist

the future the present the past

we work we struggle we begin we fail

to understand to find to unbraid to accept to question

the grief the grief the grief the grief

we shift we wield we bury

                                    into light as ash

                                             across our faces

82 years ago today, Gertrude Eileen Trevelyan, one of the most remarkable novelists of the generation that followed Virginia Woolf, died at her parents' home in Bath of injuries sustained when her flat was bombed during the Blitz. Diedβ€”and was utterly forgotten.

A thread.
