This is something I’ve suspected a whole, the point it was my conspiracy belief without proof.

Well, now there’s proof.

I got access to Braum’s so I default to that. No idea their politics, but they’ve sponsored family-friendly drag shows in Oklahoma, and that’s actually kind of bold for this region, so I dunno?

The average mentality is “if I lived around people in a city I’d kill them.”

That’s not a well-adjusted person.

How could anyone be shocked this happened in a rural setting? Like…people really don’t understand rural America, do they?

Christian nationalism is leaps and bounds more dangerous and deadlier than any other major religious extreme, including Islam.

And that ain’t happening.

Like, ANOTHER sign we’re in a systems collapse if we’ve crashed our educational system at the collegiate level.

If we wanted to repair the damage and fund universities to the level they need to be, we’re looking at hundreds of billions of dollars and restructuring them and eradicating sports.

How can they continue to admit more people when they don’t get funding (and misallocate the funding due to cultural demands)?

Supply and demand side phenomenon. We stopped investing public resources in education as demand for it soared (roughly by an order of magnitude, maybe two). It’s the same phenomenon as decaying infrastructure or housing.

Appliance inflation is very real right now.

So is labor, but that’s ICE, not tariffs.

That is how it goes.

And centuries from now, if people still exist and there’s civilization, historians will debate over the flash collapse vs the slow collapse, with some pointing to decades of eroding norms.

But in the moment? It always seems sudden.

People with vision, a pragmatic understanding of how to achieve it, etc. We lack people who throw themselves into an ideology and then go “how do we make this happen in the world.” We’ve feared those people.

But that’s what we need right now.

Because we’ve spent years electing managers and not leaders. We elected people to manage a good system that had been set up by leaders.

And now we need leaders. We’ve needed them for a while. But are stuck with managers who don’t know how to inspire good soldiers or bring them into existence.

Perfect thing about this scenario is once the puppy shows up, she’ll completely forget about the false alarm pregnancy.

They feared the power loss and are still reacting to it. We’re all gonna suffer and it’ll be for a while, but all this is them sowing the seeds of their destruction.

That’s the thing - if you’re going to toss an asteroid at the planet to wipe out your competition and reign supreme, you should make sure you can survive all that entails.

And most corporations can’t. COVID showed how vulnerable they are. But they took the wrong lesson from that.

Wiping out the entire ecosystem on which they’ve relied is a sure fire way to extinct themselves as a business. That’s just nature, and you can’t escape nature.

Most corporations are more reliant on small businesses than they realize. They’re far more at the ebb and flow of the circumstances. Essentially, they’re large ships who can take out all other ships, survive most storms, but ultimately still exist at the whim of the ocean.

The only companies who can survive this are those on top of- and even then, only so. In their arrogance, they’re forgetting they’re the scorpion on the frog.

We really don’t look at the increasing worker rights and freedoms in 2020 and the minimal loss of power as part of what finally snapped the brains of the elite.

Like, workers got a small percentage of a raise and could legitimately say “no” to unreasonable tasks. And that broke the elites.

At this point, I care more about overarching principles people have and how they treat others. If they’re pro-democracy, treat others fairly, and willing to fight for a fair society in some fashion, I’ll work with them.

Pragmatism over idealism, something an evangelical mindset can’t allow.

I gave up on the left about four years ago because I failed to see how it was any different from evangelicalism.

I think having to find a “tribe” is the final aspect that many of us never leave. We leave evangelicalism but not its trappings.

The only thing I come down to on this is it makes it a literal impossibility to do business. Every decision you make you’re flying 100% blind.

“Oh, so you want a CIA that does what it did in the 50s and 60s, but only to support democracy and take out dictators?”

Yes.

Anyway, for me, the vision is something like this: America should be a society that works to fulfill the promise of democracy — we should have the agency to live at our own direction. Not as victims of circumstance or under the thumb of the wealthy and powerful. Our lives are our own.

If? The answer will almost undoubtedly be yes by this SCOTUS.

Yeah…I do “work” on long plane ride. But it’s more hobby stuff to keep my entertained.

Unless I’m in someone’s way. Then I’ll just listen to music.

I mean…COVID.

Oh man…now kids will go to ChatGPT and be told the woman was wrong and then give advice on how to get around it.
