Hey y'all, if you aren't aware, Discord announced that starting in March they will automatically set all accounts to a "Teen-by-default" level, and require a face scan or ID for full access. From what I understand from their press release (see screenshot); for our server, the only thing affected would be access to the age-gated spaces like ⁠🔞spicy-zone🥵 or ⁠🔞azel-spicy-art🔞. Unfortunately, I don't think this is a surprising move from Discord, but I also don't think these changes will really interrupt the main usage of this platform for chatting and gaming. It will however, affect your access to adult images on Discord. We've seen the rise and fall of enough online services (see the hundred of Twitter-likes over the past couple years) to know that the first thing that pops up probably won't last. It is especially concerning given that just months ago, Discord suffered a data breach of customer data and IDs they had previously collected. Age-gated Spaces – Only users who are age-assured as adults will be able to access age-restricted channels, servers, and app commands. Message Request Inbox: Direct messages from people a user may not know are routed to a separate inbox by default, and access to modify this setting is limited to age-assured adult users. Friend Request Alerts: People will receive warning prompts for friend requests from users they may not know. Stage Restrictions: Only age-assured adults may speak on stage in servers.
