Sorry for the lack of activity itβs literally just this
With what's going on with Subscribestar, it's a good moment to remind you all of something:
Free speech also includes speech you don't agree with, and freedom of artistic expression also includes art you find horrible or disgusting.
And if you go: "Yeah I agree! However-"
Then you don't agree!
I hope they figure out what's up with Merlin and help him feel better soon! β€οΈ
His tests came back pretty inconclusive which means we'll have to do more π©
I just had to pay for some very expensive tests for my cat Merlin so if anyone is feeling generous and wants to pick up some of my paper insect templates I'd greatly appreciate it! πͺ²

Today's process: the areas that need to stay light are masked off, and the initial watercolor washes are down π
Harvest season
I watch enough taskmaster to know to always look on the back of the task. Missed this on #1.
But I found this now, and it's shaping up quite nicely. Just another reason to look forward to the next issues.

I found it interesting that I could spot the differences in the browns, reds and greys with no problem, but the last few blue-purples gave me trouble nearly every time.

Hey all I'm looking for work!
I'm experienced in character design and costume for games and film as well as illustration for books and TTRPGS. I'm based out of BC Canada looking for freelance or full time. My portfolio is linked in the first comment, thank you for shares!
I actually painted it in acrylics last year! Or at least 80-90% of it was done in acrylics; I had to do a lot of touch-ups with digital paint after scanning it in. :)
I had the honor of painting the 2026 Commandfest Promo version of the Fyndhorn Elves card! I will be at Commandfest in Tacoma, WA in July if you want yours signed! :) (and tentatively one other location but I'm waiting for official confirmation).

As clear as day
And you told me I should concentrate"
Did I go insane? Yep. But hey... I've wanted to draw that fifth page since last year's March.

Dyke Knights! Now in colour!
I self-published the first 3 chapters of my webcomic, Fairmeadow, for bringing to conventions. Then I got the flu and couldnβt go to ECCC so they are for sale online for the first time!
You can grab a copy on my site for 15% off with the code BOOFLU until March 15

Yup! Iβve been printing on sheets of 140lb hot press watercolor paper and then painting directly onto it. The pigment based ink is waterproof and doesnβt bleed when itβs wet, and the printer seems to handle single sheets of the thicker paper just fine.
It's International Women's Day! :)
I have an Epson Surecolor P800, and I'm not sure which specific model @artybel.bsky.social is using, but looking through the photos in the reviews, it looks like any of the three Epson Workforce printers at the link should be pretty decent :)
Thanks so much to @artybel.bsky.social for the recommendation of the Epson Workforce printer as a cheaper alternative for pigment ink printing, for anyone else out there who wants to try printing out their lineart onto art paper for painting! :D

Oh, thank you so much! Google was being incredibly unhelpful; I knew there *had* to be more reasonably priced options. And with such beautiful results! π β€οΈ
I will also warn that the ink cartridges are expensive, too (9 or 10 cartridges that each cost $60-70 to replace), which is a pain, but if you make and sell giclee prints, it still ends up being cheaper per print than outsourcing them.
whoops, I was too slow in my other response XD I have a Epson Surecolor P800, which is discontinued. the P700 is cheaper but max width is 13", and the p900 seems to be the "replacement" for the p800 with a max width of 17" (I think that's what mine is too, I just forgot bc I never print above 16x20)
My favorite fancy paper company has a list of which printers use pigmented based ink. I have a Epson Surecolor P800 which has since been discontinued. :p www.redrivercatalog.com/infocenter/l...
it can go up to 19" wide! that is wild to me! And also bigger than I generally need, haha π If you ever want to make and sell your own giclee prints, then it's worth the investment imo, but otherwise these types of printers all seem to be really pricey.
Hades and Persephone are tinted, lightened, cleaned up, and printed out on 12x16 Sanders Waterford 140lb hot press paper. (note this method only works with a printer that uses pigment-based inks, as pigment based ink is fully waterproof. Dye based inks will unfortunately bleed when wet π).
