Perfectly working, hilariously inefficient solution (for no good reason, the tree is a class with a parent link, so updating while walking the parent chain is the way to go).
I shudder to think what codebases would look after a few years of uncritically accepting changes such as those proposed.
Gemini, I want to version the nodes in the tree class, so that when a node is updated, the parent chain is updated as well.
"That is an excellent design choice! Here's a function that recursively searches from the root to find the node and then replaces all nodes along the way"
In her defense, the DOJ has made a real mockery of the DOJ lately, so, very representative. /s
And the folks who loudly complained about “lawfare” eat it up without appreciating the irony.
I can so readily imagine the husks of Fox News viewers consuming this and nodding along: “those Biden lawfare DOJlers sure didn’t prosecute enough, them lazy bastards!”
He's outright admitting Ellison bought CNN to turn it into a propaganda outlet for the regime.
Not wrong. That said, there've been times when I suspect our CEO would have been more tempted to lay off the feature branch than servicing ;)
The cult of the new is alive and well; I spent decades failing in advocating for bug fixes and stability vs new visionary features that failed to deliver value. I've ended up on the position that unless we organizationally divide the responsibilities, this will never get solved.
IMHO there's an opportunity to reinvent IDEs as review and analysis tools that engineers use to criticize and reject LLM generated changes based on the current backlog. A few companies are already aggressively launching prototypes in that direction, while the big players are slow to react.
nobody is blackmailing Lindsey Graham. No one is blackmailing Glenn Greenwald. No one is blackmailing Donald Trump.
These people are all doing evil things and saying evil shit *because they are evil and want to do evil things.* 1
👇🎯 Again, just completely opposite of the breathless EPIC FAILURE OF INCOMPETENCE Narrative™️ that the media immediately & thoroughly adopted when Joe Biden did not provide a surgically clean implementation of Donald Trump’s totally unplanned 🇦🇫 withdrawal timeline.
The genius businessman strikes again
While the cost to throw together a convincing prototype of a feature is now lower than the meeting and spec writing cost, actually building a shippable product is something else.
I expect the debate around “what do you mean it’ll take months, I thought it up in a day” is going to get worse. ;)
Additionally, it destroys the lives and livelihood of people so detained. Just imagine you got whisked off into a prison in a remote state by accident. Three months later, will you still have your job, your apartment and your transportation? Will the IRS take kindly to you having missed 4/15?

Yesterday, Jeffrey Epstein's former account testified, under oath, that the Epstein Estate paid a settlement to one of the women accusing Donald Trump of raping her as a minor, AFTER Epstein had died.
This would end any other President instantly. But the press doesn't care.
The most likely underlying cause was a decision by the Pentagon to use very outdated information to target attacks. (The school has been there for a decade.)
A likely contributing cause is that Hegseth did away with the office that reviewed targeting to minimize civilian casualties.
Uff, that one hits hard. Thank you!

And, to be clear, we're not talking about some lightweight milquetoast reforms that allow the lawlessness to continue unabated. Hard cuts and real consequences, please.
No brain.
No morals.
No integrity.
No empathy.
No decency.
Not one trait that is desirable.
=====================
And we’ll need reforms that ensure that such harmful lawlessness and violations of custodial responsibility will not happen again and can and will be discovered and addressed quickly.
Thank you. What is being done in the name of the law to people who deserve better is outrageous, and anything that documents what is going on, prevents escalation, helps the people impacted and creates a foundation for future accountability and improvement is worthwhile.
The entire "we made an error in what is a life changing decision about you, and you can decide to pay $800 for us to investigate ourselves and maybe determine that we're just fine" is outrageous.
these graphs should scare the shit out of you
"We have been here for nine months,” wrote the 9-year-old. “Please get us out.”
"I miss my bear," the 5-year-old said.
In letters & drawings, the longest-held family at the Dilley ICE detention center describe it as "slowly killing us on the inside."

And yes, I was surprised to discover that the NYT appears to have been associated with actual journalism, too.
