Fan of Waterloo's rapid transit project, ION (#wrLRT), but I tweet train, theme park, and bicycling adventures, too. Unabashed gadgetbahn enthusiast. π³οΈβππΎπ¨π¦

Bombardier FLEXITY Freedom 508 glides past the Perimeter Institute, into Waterloo Park. #wrLRT

After 6 rides, I still canβt figure it out π

22.07.2025 21:36 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Mixed feelings on seeing the *entire* single rider queue at AlpenFury filled with groups.
They knew what they were getting into (I hope), but when I visit the park alone, that little perk of being able to lap rides vanishes.
Main queue: ~110 minutes
Singles: ~90 minutes π«

22.07.2025 16:39 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Have you riden AlpenFury yet?
I agree, the coasters you mentioned are extremely tight, but somehow Alpen Furyβs trains are different, and donβt feel that way.
I canβt ride in the third row of the coasters you mention; Iβm fine in any seat on AlpenFury.

Nice over-centre mechanism here for lifting the side plates of the movable station floor into place on AlpenFury.

17.07.2025 12:16 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0If you haven't ridden yet, give it a shot. I'm awkwardly proportioned (long legs) and was very worried as I'm extremely uncomfortable in Kennywood's, but honestly these trains are just fine. I actually don't even notice the shin guards while riding.
17.07.2025 12:14 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The only black mark I can think of is the queue setup is egregious; it (currently) has no shade canopy, likely as a result of rushing to open the ride, due to it being late.
This must be resolved soon; we saw someone pass out. We had brought a small umbrella, which is a must.
AlpenFury was my 538th coaster, and absolutely blew away my expectations, which were very, very high.
Wonderland may not have any idea what they have done, but they and Premier have created one of the best roller coasters in the entire world.
10/10.

23.06.2025 15:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was the 7-10Β° line that caught my eye - I thought the consensus that even 0.5Β° would mean like, the end of all life on earth.

Which will open first? The Eglinton Crosstown, or Alpen Fury? π€

Not everything is about performance. There's a reason virtually every taxi is a prius. They just work.
Cool! Any video to share?
