Under Cover of Darkness by Amy Helen Bell review β the dark side of wartime London
The capital during the Blitz wasnβt all heroic firefighters and whistling milkmen β thieves and even serial killers lurked in the shadows
"Itβs the grubbiness that comes through: the smell of families β told to use no more than five inches of bathwater a week between them β crammed into shelters where a bucket served for a toilet."

Last year, I published a memoir/ criminal history about my fatherβs role in defending two murderers in a notorious case in 1970s New Brunswick. It was difficult to reveal personal details of my life but it helped me connect with other people touched by the trial and aftermath
