Do AINs get to send teams? I thought they were only allowed to compete as individuals.

08.10.2025 10:48 β π 3975 π 2224 π¬ 233 π 490I have read comments from gymnasts saying that they don't like people moving next to the beam while they are on it, so they have their coaches leave the board.
It makes me deeply uncomfortable, because, as you say, the injury risk if they fall on it is π¬ .
Gym fans are everywhere.

I can't 'heart' this news. π
Thank you for sharing.
Today we were pulling up carpet in the new house. Rolling it up for removal took me straight back to those gymnastics floor mats.
I miss that gym. Even the labor of set-up and breakdown.
Skills from my previous life coaching rec gymnastics that unexpectedly translate to other parts of life:
We had to pack away equipment every day due to shared facilities. This included rolling up big floor mats. Easier with two people to a mat, but you learned to do it solo when necessary.
I'm catching up on day 1 of US gymnastics championships. Hubby comes home in the middle of rotation 4, catches about three routines, and comments 'did they change the rules? this feels different.'
I just want to know *how* he picked up on the new CoP basically from vibes.
I really love how happy Josc Roberson always looks when she's doing gymnastics.

20.07.2025 00:06 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm not generally a fan of crystal-encrusted leos. But I actually like that these guys are embracing a bit of bling and making their attire a costume. This sport is more "artistic" than "artistic gymnastics", so that's appropriate.
17.06.2025 14:13 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Also? Tumbling with apparatus is kinda cool.
Might even go so far as to say that there are two streams of rhythmic: flexibility (what the women currently do) and tumbling (what these men are doing) and neither one needs to be a gendered sport.

If we're concerned about gender parity in gymnastics (specifically rhythmic), why oh why aren't we encouraging this in other countries? It's stunning.

Thanks for this context. Suddenly some pieces fall into place!
It's quite sad for the Cuban gymnasts. But at the same time, it's been amazing watching the Panamanians thriving.
Japan in their "big 4"era? I'm here for it.

When I got my licence, I was terrified of driving 5km alone to my friend's house. Meanwhile this kid is solo road tripping from day 1. π€―
This platform has been weirdly quiet about Euros. I don't get it, it wasn't like this for NCAA and Olympics.
I guess Pan Ams next month might be instructive... Maybe 90% of people here only care about USA?... But I also think some people have just dropped away.
I like this format with two teams on each apparatus in quals, with each rotation split in halves. It does make each subdivision longer, but it takes less time than running two subdivisions of four teams. If the FIG is trying to make Worlds shorter, why don't they use this format for quals?

31.05.2025 10:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Similarly, the last I remember seeing Denisa Golgota, you could see the pressure on her with the weight of her country resting on her. At this competition, she looks happy. I hope she's been able to find joy in her return.
31.05.2025 10:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The French team here is night and day compared to their Paris team.
I recently re-watched Paris quals, and was struck by how stressed they looked on entering the arena. No wonder they struggled.
This team in Leipzig, I can only describe as relaxed. It shows in their performance.
...and simultaneously missing the athletes who are still on a post-Olympic break, or recovering from injury, or recently retired.
31.05.2025 10:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0But I'm also really enjoying the veterans who have stuck around from Paris, or who are returning from a break. I always have a soft spot for the athletes I'm familiar with.
31.05.2025 10:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's so much promising talent rising on the Euro teams, it's kind of an odd juxtaposition with the hand-wringing about the state of team USA.
Rising talent outside USA is wonderful. It will be so good to return to team competitions where the gold medal doesn't feel like a foregone conclusion.
Loving the many new faces. Either new because they are new to senior international competition, or "new" because I haven't seen them before.
