Text on image says: Occupational therapy has helped me to understand how to manage my life and how to cope. They taught me to have some confidence, such as how to look after a house and how to cook. Occupational therapy is an important role to help know these parts so to be independent and enjoy life.
Our occupational therapy team at the Cavell Centre in Peterborough has received this lovely feedback for Thank You Thursday from one of its patients. Well done, everyone π

NHS staff psychological wellbeing: system-level changes needed
System-level changes such as improvements in working conditions are essential in order to improve the psychological wellbeing of NHS staff.
Researchers found that to address the epidemic of mental ill health among HCPs, workers needed:
Targeted MH interventions
Hot food
Rest areas/lockers
Free parking
Essentially staff just need to be valued & treated like human beings.
Rocket science it is not.

My English degree led to studying OT. Iβve always seen both as involving NARRATIVE. The personβs occupational narrative is our main interest in OT. Weβre helping people write the next chapter of their life, through what they do. Stories, meaning, structure, metaphors to live by. #occupationaltherapy
