If wish to support your libraries you could also check out ebooks and audiobooks on Libby.They support your local library and are sometimes extremely more accessible. Check out local metropolises near you like how the Houston Public Library is free to all citizens of TX. E-Books are not enemies.

There is absolutely is a way to download your books from Amazon and remove the DRM yourself (as I have) and there are plenty of websites that sell e-books DRM-free. If you truly wish to e-read without the Amazon Ecosystem there are PLENTY of e-readers that are not kindle (Boox, Kobo).
