The chemistry community should ban drawing chemical structures with generative AI, chemists warn AIs like Microsoft's Copilot, Google's Gemini and OpenAI's ChatGPT still make serious errors rendering structural formulae

Can generative AI be trusted to draw chemical structures? Not yet, according to two chemists who want to see the community take a tough stance against its use.

#MeetTheTeam - Say hello to Fabián from Bogotá. He joined our group for a Postdoc, which explores the #synthesis of new #fluorescent compounds in hot water. When he is not in the lab, you will see him playing the piano, pampering cats, or trying to learn German.

#MeetTheTeam - Say hello to Hannah. She joined the group as an intern in 2024 and stayed for her MSc thesis. As of June 2025, she started her #PhD thesis on the #automation of #hydrothermal synthesis. Outside of the lab, Hannah enjoys being outdoors, preferably hiking, cycling or running.
