#MeetTheTeam - Say hi to Nick, who joined our group in January 2024 for his #PhD thesis, which focuses on developing polymers to stabilize and assemble #metal #nanoparticles. Outside of the lab, Nick spends his time baking, reading, or planning his next adventure.

#MeetTheTeam - Say hello to Frank from Ulm (DE). He joined the team in 2022 for his MSc thesis and in February 2023, he started his PhD on the #hydrothermal synthesis of #hybrid materials for #battery applications. Outside the lab, you’ll find him on the volleyball court, at the gym, or out cycling.

#MeetTheTeam - Say hi to Danica from Montenegro! She joined our group in Vienna @cemm.oeaw.ac.at in October 2023 to explore #novel #dyes for applications in #fluorescence microscopy. In her free time, she enjoy traveling the world with her family.

This is 'Cueva de los Cristales', the Cave of the Crystals, near the city of Naica in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.

The crystals are selenite, a type of gypsum.

They formed over the last 1 million years.

#MeetTheTeam - Say hello to Tobias from Konstanz (DE). He joined our group in July 2022 for his Bachelor thesis and since March 2025, he is pursuing his #PhD on the #synthesis of biologically active #materials. In his spare time, Tobias enjoys hiking, via ferrata climbing, and 3D printing.

#MeetTheTeam Say hello to Jessica from Friedrichshafen (DE). She joined the group in 2024 as a PhD student and her work focuses on semiconducting nanomaterials with optoelectronic properties. Out of the lab, she enjoys hiking, travelling, crocheting and playing the flute in the university orchestra.

She joined the group in 2022 as an intern and started her PhD in 2025, which focuses on phenols as substrates for #hydrothermal synthesis. Lena has a passion for crime novel and podcasts, escape rooms, and thrillers.

#MeetTheTeam - Say hi to Lukas from beautiful Amstetten (AT). He became part of the group in 2015 to explore sustainable #hybrid materials. In 2022, he joined us at @cemm.oeaw.ac.at to study the #hydrothermal synthesis of #bioactive materials. In his free time, he travels and explores new places.
