Just language - the Polish format is almost identical, except for the inclusion of saints' days and references to Polish anniversaries.
Much like Jadwiga Harasowska in Glasgow, Polish women writers and editors were fundamental in identifying the practical and cultural needs of Polish servicemen, as well as building bridges with the English and Scottish communities in which the Poles found themselves.
Without being all Philomena Cunk, the diary was the smartphone of the day - schedules, reminders, contacts.
Amelia overheard two Polish soldiers complaining that they couldn't use the English diaries. She approached a number of Edinburgh publishers - who willingly signed up.
