In the spirit of this romantic month, I want to remind people that a character having a successful love life doesn't make them dull or "old". It makes them happy and in fact, more interesting because now, they have something to protect and be better for.

My OTHER secret weapon is that it will not go the way you expect it to in any way.

I admit... my premise of Wolfman is highly inspired by the 2025 movie, but my secret weapon is that the premise of the family going out into the woods to become close again while the family is kind of dysfunctional is a common trope.

I saw the 2025 Wolfman. The bad news is that I didn't like it. It had the bones to do something different and original, but they decided to play it safe and predictable in the end with several interesting elements that went nowhere.

The good news is that it has inspired me to do the Wolfman MY way.

Desperation and not wanting to be in a situation where she has to scrounge and bottom feed to live. Also, the disappointment of being left behind and wanting to be more than what was thrust upon her.

Yeah! I find those stories really compelling and really stick with you as cautionary tales.

I think we need more stories like this because they are ones people can highly relate to. Plus, I find it fascinating and deep to show to what extent good and evil are choices that you make again and again.

My favourite case that never was is how in the new Star Wars Trilogy, Rey should have went bad and rose to become to new Palpatine.

I know that redemption arcs are popular, but I find a lot of stories would have benefitted tremendously from the opposite: corruption stories. In other words, story arcs where a good guy goes bad and we see the development over time.

I think Star Trek did it best; we will always have challenges and issues to overcome because the world is not perfect, but there is still beauty, joy and wonder. And the ability to improve is always there.

I mean this in an uplifting way. It's just as unrealistic to believe the future is doomed to be dystopian wasteland as it is to believe that it is destined to be a perfect utopia.

The top things that fall into this category are Megaman X and everything that came after (way too nihilistic), Pirates of the Caribbean's sequels, Star Wars sometimes and Star Trek sometimes. And yes, I'm STILL a fan of that stuff. Nothing is perfect, friends.

You can love a media, its characters, it's lore and beyond 10,000% and still hate the plot, ending and outcomes. There are no terms and conditions when it comes to being a fan. You can select the things you like about it which includes the plot and still like the thing itself.
