La Fiscalía Provincial de Badajoz ha iniciado diligencias para recopilar información sobre el hallazgo de medio centenar de cuerpos en la fosa común del cementerio municipal. Ha sido este jueves cuando el fiscal del juzgado de Villanueva de la Serena se ha personado en la zona de exhumación, donde se han localizado recientemente alrededor de 23 cadáveres muertos tras la Guerra Civil. «Están atados de las manos, hacinados y con disparos en la cabeza», explica Laura Gutiérrez, directora de la actual intervención en esta zona, donde se ha trabajado en varias campañas desde 2016. Se cree que fueron asesinados al mismo tiempo. Además de los restos óseos, en la fosa también se pueden observar otros elementos como suelas de zapatos. i

Ensañamiento Ella fue una de las personas que acompañó al fiscal en su visita para iniciar unos trámites para determinar la relevancia penal. «Uno de ellos tiene hasta seis disparos en la cabeza, no es solamente un tiro de gracia, se ve cierto ensañamiento», detallaba al fiscal. El punto de partida será la recopilación de la información que posee la Asociación de Familiares del Memorial de Villanueva de la Serena (Afame-VVA). Una vía judicial que se puede extinguir si se decide su archivo por parte de la Fiscalía o, por el contrario, continuar con la

derivación a un juzgado si se entiende que hay base de un delito, en este caso, de lesa humanidad. Según explican desde Afame, es la primera vez en la provincia de Badajoz que la Fiscalía se persona en una exhumación e inicia investigaciones sobre estos crímenes. «Es una imagen terrible y queda aún mucha fosa por descubrir; es hora de que la justicia actúe y acabe con la impunidad», afirma Tina Merino, presidenta de Afame en Villanueva.

Al menos 23 fusilados hallados en una fosa común en Villanueva de la Serena (Estremaúra): atados, con disparos en la cabeza, uno con seis. El fascismo creyó que el silencio y la tierra bastarían para borrarlo todo. Pero la tierra habla, y cada hallazgo rompe noventa años de ocultación y silencio.
