ugh that's awful!!! i've heard stories of trans women's doctors saying that to them 💀 it's rough out there!!!

i will say, the vast majority of DFL electeds and candidates are very well-intentioned and very receptive to feedback. there's just a lot of language and understanding that would've been more appropriate ten years ago that have stuck around too long

they should pay me to teach candidates how to talk about trans people

also a lot of people don't know that estrogen doesn't affect your vocal cords! trans women have to do voice training instead (or some women get surgery, though that's still pretty uncommon afaik and still requires some training)

for example, a lot of people don't understand just how essential hormone treatments are for mental health. my brain simply cannot function without estrogen and progesterone. if my hormones were cut off, i wouldn't be able to survive more than a week or two, even losing mental health effects alone

i think i might make some sort of guide or reference for people (esp elected leaders) about what HRT actually does for trans women and transfems. i think there's a lack of understanding of how all-encompassing the effects of hormones can be. it's important folks understand *why* HRT is lifesaving

my goal over the next couple years is to make the DFL an institution that better includes, protects, and promotes trans people. over the last week or so i've gotten a better understanding of just how big the obstacles are - but i've also gotten a better understanding of what to do about it

we need someone to challenge dawanna witt for sheriff. this brutality happening under her watch is unacceptable

We were literally watching our community provide a ceremony at the Whipple building.

Hennepin County Sheriff’s then began to escalate tensions. This was disrespectful to our community, our culture, and our ancestors.

This created fear and was an attack on our right to peacefully assemble.

about 30 people were arrested at whipple this morning for unlawful assembly, and many first hand reports say hennepin county sheriff's office were escalating. people were arrested when they were retreating, and people were knocked down by law enforcement
