CAESAR has declared himself DICTATOR FOR LIFE and MUST BE STOPPED
can you rush a donation of ten denarii today to show that you STAND WITH THE REPUBLIC?
Happy March 15. Here is my favorite Ides of March meme:
Brits: Please scream. This is a Labour govt proposing to hand the property of individual British workers to largely US corporations.
@davidpintod.bsky.social
a reminder that Graham Platner is the grandson of the designer of the "Windows on the World" restaurant at the WTC, has considerable family money, and his main business is selling oysters to his mom's two restaurants. These people are fucking marks.
That happened at a workplace of mine, with the added messiness of one of the people supervised their spouse’s affair partner!
Absolute shocker of a rights grab - academics may want to push back hard
Honestly, I’m just glad it’s not more student flats (that would also look exactly like everything else that’s been built in the city in the last 5 years).
Could be way worse tbh.
I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.
Thanks -- I'm doing okay so far! No fun times for anyone anywhere in HE these days, seems like.
I didn’t realize she was…not great. Is somebody primarying her?
We Should Have Finished Reconstruction: A Brief History of American Politics, 1865-2026
Think about it like this. This ICE agent was on camera and unmasked — fulfilling one of three "demands" Democratic leader Chuck Schumer just issued in order to agree to save Republicans and give DHS even more money.
And he was still threatening to kill someone.
so glad to see the repatriation work of my colleagues continue to produce solid relationships and equitable results:

A lot of Dems are going to take Bovino and Noem being fired as the finish line, and it's very important to make it clear to them that it is a starting line
I don’t want to hear anything from an elected official unless it’s a plan to defund the DHS and impeach Noem, Bovino, etc. No texts. No emails. No talk about the economy. Step up or step off.
I had this thought unloading the dishwasher earlier today and putting away the stainless steel bowls we bought last year. They've worked really well for us, but like, we just bought them because they were the stainless steel bowls at Costco that day and also were on sale? No research was done.
Sounds like Rite Aid post being PE'd and pre actual closure.
if you try to focus on Trump’s authoritarianism, Schumer will deflect and say people want us to focus on affordability. but when Zohran Mamdani made affordability the heart of his campaign Schumer refused to endorse him because they disagree about Israel. it’s all mealy mouthed bullshit.
If you cannot make “these people are leaving BABIES in CARS in WINTER and then returning them to their carekeepers with BRUISES” into popular sentiment as a politician, you’re either inept or you want this to keep happening.
This should honestly be a legal requirement for discontinued products.
We have a new vacancy in my team if anyone’s looking for a change in the new year.
🔊The Call for Proposals for the 2026 #IIIF Annual Conference is now open!

Yes, the 8/9/23/27 all go to UoE and they are all pretty much full in the mornings when school is in session. Not sure the 13 goes near a uni and it's never full (I think the most people I've ever seen on it in Canonmills is about 7). There's also the 36 at Eyre Place.
The buses that go from Dundas to UoE's central campus are often full many mornings by the time they get to the bus stop right outside this development (ask me how I know). Lothian would to run a more frequent service at peak times to get these students to uni.

Congratulations to Allmaps (led by @bertspaan.nl & Jules Schoonman) + @iiif.bsky.social on the announcement of this partnership. It's a fantastic step towards a sustainable, open, digital maps infrastructure and data ecosystem.

Why can't they just analyse their data? Why is any computation or statistics called AI now?
