PSA that if you are looking for a good holiday gift for a kiddo ages 4-8 who loves space, @tanyaofmars.bsky.social and I wrote a book about the Mars rovers!

Mia and the Martians is a great gift and available on Bookshop, Barnes & Noble, and local bookstores!

Daily practice: ask yourself, "what would I do if I knew I could not fail?"

The answers are a North Star.

I had a dream about the book I am writing being read by the world last night and it was such a powerful motivator to keep going

Why the U.S. doesn't need to beat China to the Lagrange points As U.S.-China space competition heats up, there’s growing pressure to β€œwin the race” to cislunar Lagrange points, but that framing misses a few things.

This substack beautifully describes Lagrane Points! maxwellzhu.substack.com/p/why-the-us...

Turning Real-Time Satellite Data into a Competitive Advantage Businesses across industries are using real-time satellite data to gain an edge. The number of active satellites has tripled in five years and could reach 60,000 by 2030, fueling a booming space econo...

The solution space for the future will only be unlocked by a workforce that understands the data we have access to now. This is true for companies, and also for climate change, education, and equality.

"Companies should invest in both enterprise-wide learning and a robust data and analytics function capable of interpreting satellite and spatial data. Training programs, partnerships, and simulation tools can all help leaders frame the right problems and identify opportunities."

I was thrilled to see an article today in HBR about how satellite data can be advantageous to companies that specifically mentioned how a space literate workforce is critical to success.

Good morning! Happy Monday! Happy November!

I sat down yesterday and wrote my weekly Substack post. If you are interested in book recs, thoughts on the neuroscience of awe, and musing on the end of the year, I’d love if you would check out Observing Hope

When you are feeling stressed, look to those who can teach you and inspire you. I promise it will help

-One with a mentor who I shared my fears with. Saying them out loud took away their power and her advice gave me tactical strategy

-One with a high schooler who aspires to work in the space industry. Her enthusiasm reminded me why the work I do matters.

I started this week feeling stressed and down. Today I am feeling grounded and engaged. The two conversations I had that changed that mindset:

Starting the day off with the fresh NYC fall air! I love living in LA and will be glad to go home at the end of this week, but am enjoying the crispness in the morning!

The lesson: in the midst of so many aspects of business/life that are out of my control, reminding myself of what I can control and acting on that increases self-confidence and self-efficacy

This week I tried an experiment: write 2 tasks in my planner every day that move the needle for @slooh.bsky.social AND that are fully in my control.

The result: I am ending the week feeling like I made a difference and made strides in the right direction.

I spent the weekend at #ShineAway listening to amazing women talk about life and business. My three takeaways:

1. Trust your intuitionβ€”70%+ of speakers said this.

2. β€œBe your own passion project”—Karen Pittman spoke eloquently about being her own inspiration.

3. Aim for tsunamis, not ripples

What people think astrophysics is: Memorizing star names and doing math. What it really is: Understanding how we see our place in the universe.

Had a conversation with a mentee yesterday about how much so many people are driven by spite and yet how few people are willing to admit that spite is a motivator. In my experience, as long as spite is paired with purpose, it can be a powerful emotion to lean into

went to the Clark Planetarium last night for date night during their "Clark after Dark" 18+ event and omg so much fun. I wish more planetariums had adults only evenings. It was great to see the exhibits sans kiddos and there wer so many fun experiments to try (with lots more fire than usual)
