None of the reasons given by Russians for not volunteering are along the lines of ‘I think it is morally wrong to invade a peaceful neighbour, to kill, maim and torture its people, destroy its towns & cities, abduct its children etc.’.

Were it low risk, limited duration, with fat paycheck, then OK.

Maybe the high K:W ratio is partly due to wounded soldiers being repeatedly sent back to the frontline until dead, saving russia the future cost of a pension and medical care.
