We need a meaningful children’s rights movement in this country. There is a long history of the government - all three branches - upholding “parental rights” to the detriment of children.

Particularly the right to a good education and to adequate healthcare, including vaccinations.

Donate to Help for Jesus Herrera Torres's Family, organized by Jennifer Wang I'm writing this message on behalf of Aveson parents Jesus Herrera Torres and San… Jennifer Wang needs your support for Help for Jesus Herrera Torres's Family

Hey, friends. You might remember that my kids' school PTA morphed into a mutual aid group after the Eaton Fire, & I'm writing in that capacity rn. Our community was already hard hit before the ICE escalation in LA, and now a dad was disappeared on Friday.

An image of a proposed redesign for the Massachusetts flag: it is a photo collage with a huge Dunkin Donuts at the center with the Harvard "Veritas" seal on the front of the building and a huge lobster plush doll walking out the front of it. The enormous smiling head of Governor Maura Healey rises up from behind the building, with heart-shaped sunglasses pasted over her eyes. Three bros in the lower left of the photo are raising a toast in red Solo cups, and in the lower right a (possibly drunk) young white person wearing a white T-shirt and sunglasses is waving a huge rainbow flag and wearing a rainbow boa. The word "MASSACHUSETTS" appears in the upper right in enormous pink-sprinkled letters in the Dunkin Donuts font.

The submissions for the new Massachusetts seal, flag and motto are up, and my friends, they are a *trip* www.mass.gov/doc/massachu...

Last week, Boston received a letter from AG Bondi threatening to prosecute officials and withhold funds unless we cooperate with carrying out mass deportations.

The US Attorney General asked for a response by today, so here it is: stop attacking our cities to hide your administration’s failures.

A pile of hand drawn coloring books with different themes, made by a child The inside of the turkey book, with one page showing a handprint turkey and the other with a bird torso and head not filled in labeled “draw a turky” The back of the book, which says “$2, thank you”

Did not bring any money walking the dog, might die of Not Being Able To Buy The Turkey Themed Coloring Book

Getting an email from a hotel that just says “the road is out, you must hike to the hotel. Please contact us 24 hours in advance if you would like to hire a horse for your luggage” is a dream I didn’t even know I had

Crime rates in all three cities have gone down, and in Baltimore at astounding levels, in part by treating crime as a public health crisis, rather than a "need more cops" crisis. popular.info/p/the-secret...

Big idea: an app that’s like Merlin bird ID but instead of kinds of bird it tells you by name which neighborhood dogs are barking so you can say hi back to them

The traveling part is great! But the tinkering and researching and imagining and longing for the travel??? Unmatched, underrated

How many nights should I stay in the Museum of Repressed Writers? Should I splurge on the evening brutalist architecture tour that has a warning for “strange energy and emotional gravity” or go to a town where you can wander around abandoned Soviet sanatoriums? Travel planning is my favorite hobby

Everything in its place: the hummingbirds are on the bee balm, the squash is on the vine, the robins are bringing caterpillars to the nestlings in the honeysuckle, the crimebag is shoving her entire head into a brush pile to try to murder a chipmunk

A hand drawn poster in a child’s handwriting that says “please don’t litter” on top A close up of the rest of the poster, that says “the animals won’t let you (and the police)” and features a drawing of a monster next to a trash can threatening someone dropping a cup The poster with a lake full of sailboats behind it

And we both met a new local icon, this littering poster

A website selling dog toys Zoomed in on the cooy on the website that reads “twice the length, twice the pleasure”

A question that’s sometimes surprisingly hard to answer: is this website selling me a dog toy or a sex toy?
