It's really cool that the provincial government maintains a free font that displays all Indigenous characters used across BC.

Slightly less cool that it only comes in three weights for some reason, all I want for Christmas is BC Sans Semibold

Photo of Mayor Alto, Destination Greater Victoria, and media at the announcement of the hanging basket donation program.

When we scaled back on the hanging basket program in Victoria, the response was overwhelming. It led to the creation of a new hanging basket donation program, where businesses and residents can sponsor a basket.

Thanks to Butchart Gardens for donating $25k to the program!

Canadian politicians are being sold AI-powered 'digital fighters' A new app gets around bot bans by recruiting real people to post political messages generated by AI.

With municipal elections coming up in six Canadian provinces in 2026, experts warn that “cyborg propaganda” tools could reduce campaigns to battles between humans ventriloquised by chatbots.

I sort of understand the hesitation, since solar needs a larger surface area compared to wind, especially if they are building it on Greenfield compared to brownfield

Due to technical difficulties, we are unable to livestream the Board Meeting as planned. A recording will be posted afterward on our website. Thank you for your understanding.

Will it, though. (Posted over half an hour into the scheduled meeting time)

It looks like they’re not streaming tonight’s meeting. It’s no small thing. I know nobody goes in person, so with no meaningful notice that they won’t stream, no online record, and limited minutes, they’re functionally secret meetings for a body that takes up a quarter of the city’s budget. #yyj
