The way I chain my stuff in the Helix may not be typical but usually I do OD, noise gate, amp, IR, modulation effects, delay/reverb.

Listened to some Hulder last night then watched the Netflix Devil May Cry show. I was not impressed. It had some okay elements (the action, the villain) but overall it was a let down and was DMC in name only. Alternate universes are fine but this felt like bad fan fiction.

Finished up Shoresy (season 4 was much better than 3) and got caught up on Daredevil: Born Again (finally some Daredevil in the Daredevil show) now patiently awaiting the season 3 finale of Reacher.

Goatwhore - Constricting Rage of the Merciless

Fucking riff fest, riff lord Sammy Duet with Erik Rutan producing, it’s basically a guaranteed win. This album pummels you like you owe it money.

Explorer is 99.9% done, gotta cut a pick guard but I had one in a box that’ll work for now. Not a perfect fit but honestly, it looks kinda cool so maybe I’ll roll with it. I devalued this guitar a ton but I bought it to play it not sit in a fucking case for 30 years.

Imagine saying this when you’re opening for Disturbed in 2025.

New Cradle of Filth is pretty good. I had a longer post but I keep getting some bullshit error.

I remember people being disappointed when this came out because it seemed tame compared to Trendkill but this is a great record that’s very much in line with Cowboys and Vulgar

Jade - The Pacification of Death

If you haven’t given it a listen you should. It’s a big sounding record that moves some serious air when played through speakers at volume and really lends to their atmospheric doomy melodic death metal.

I can give The Black Dahlia Murder a pass but most bands with more than 3 word band names. Band names should be succinct, not whole ass sentences with a subject and verb.

A lot of questions are asked but not all of them are answered but it’s not like you leave the stories lacking anything. Sometimes there just aren’t answers to the horrors that unfold within these pages which is kind of like life.

Finished Jon Padgett’s The Secret of Ventriloquism and it was pretty good. Some of the stories are better than others but none were terrible. The Infusorium, Murmurs of a Voice Forknown, and 20 Simple Steps to Ventriloquism were my favorites.

I never thought I was a crackle fan until I saw that.

Oof, tough call because I get where he’s coming from but I understand both sides of this.
