Same here, very sad to hear. He was so generous with his time and expertise, he helped us a lot in the early days of @Openenergymon, I still come across the odd NanodeRF still posting to our servers

NEW: A mega snow storm - SNOWPOCALYPSE - recently hit residents of Juneau, Alaska.
I spoke to heat pump owners there to find out how they coped. Their heat pumps did great, apparently!

Massive thanks to @trystanlea.bsky.social and @glynhudson.bsky.social for setting up HeatPumpMonitor.org, the excellent installers and to the people willing to share their data! Without you none of this would have been possible.
05.01.2026 16:12 β π 22 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0This is mine this morning, it was another cold night with more more snow
04.01.2026 17:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There's some cold temperatures forcast for the next day or two, if you have a heatpump with @openenergymon.bsky.social monitoring and the temperature is below freezing please consider running a max output test and submit the result to HPM πβοΈ youtu.be/K-H2aXf15DI?...

03.01.2026 23:56 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0First sprinkling of snow on our heat pump! It's been doing a great job keeping the house toasty warm, live monitoring data from this system is available on @openenergymon.bsky.social HeatPumpMonitor heatpumpmonitor.org/dashboard?id=748
03.01.2026 23:56 β π 17 π 2 π¬ 1 π 0Over 7 years in our electric campervan, this map only shows the last couple of years worth of trips, Electroverse didn't exist before then! youtube.com/playlist?lis...
29.12.2025 09:15 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Good monitoring data is very useful to help optimise performance, but knowledge of the physical system is often required to be able to identify issues
28.12.2025 21:51 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Ah yes, Electroverse is my favourite charging app
28.12.2025 21:48 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Rapid charging is similarly expensive in the UK, there are still savings to be made with off-peak home charging
28.12.2025 21:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Superchargers are also very cheap, this one is Β£0.14/kWh off peak with subscription π€―
28.12.2025 17:00 β π 7 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Coffee is also reasonable priced Β£1.48 for an espresso π
27.12.2025 22:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Loving the EV rapid charging prices in France, this is Ionity in a motorway services using @octopus.energy Electroverse app without any subscription Β£0.29/kWh π
27.12.2025 22:10 β π 20 π 0 π¬ 4 π 0Inversely, improving insulation to reduce the heat loss makes it easier to run at a lower flow temperature. As always, it's the design insulation and commissioning which dictates the performance of the system
19.12.2025 16:10 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Really great to see this work on how good heat pump installs can be. An average seasonal performance factor (sCOP) of 3.9 beats gas on running costs, even in the UK where the price ratio between gas and electricity is so bad.
18.12.2025 19:08 β π 34 π 12 π¬ 4 π 0Not at all, lot's can often be done to improve efficiency post install. Incorrect or suboptimal commissioning settings is where most efficiency is lost. Making sure whether compensation is enabled and reducing the curve is a good place to start

It's been great to be part of this project with @janrosenow.bsky.social @trystanlea.bsky.social to share the results from HeatpumpMonitor.org @openenergymon.bsky.social in a peer-reviewed paper π₯³
The overall highlighted HP performance is testament to the work of excellent installers π π
It will make very little difference, since SCOP is weighted by heat delivered
17.12.2025 15:23 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This has also been the result of the analysis of the data from @openenergymon.bsky.social Heatpumpmonitor.org youtu.be/SiHtzDNWAo4?...
15.12.2025 19:21 β π 12 π 4 π¬ 3 π 3Heat pumps can work well in all types of houses, here's a case study of a heatpump in a large 17th Century listed house, it's one of the best performing heatpumps in the country www.viessmann.co.uk/en/reference...
14.12.2025 22:00 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I think it's impossible, there's only on system which has achieved scop 5 on HPM. To achieve scop 6 would probably require a mean flow temperature sub 25C when it's it's -3C outside, including DHW heating
14.12.2025 11:25 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0COP of 6 is easily doable on a mild day, SCOP of 6 with an ASHP is impossible

07.12.2025 10:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Did you get it sorted? What was the issue?
06.12.2025 21:51 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0They are fire power FRVs, I'm going to plug our @openenergymon.bsky.social website, but they're available from a few different distributors now shop.openenergymonitor.com/frv-flow-mea...
06.12.2025 19:31 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Great stuff. I'm obviously biased, but I would recommend our indipendant @openenergymon.bsky.social monitoring, the onboard Grant data is very inaccurate and not particularly useful shop.openenergymonitor.com/level-3-heat...
06.12.2025 19:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Follow the pipe feeding water into the bottom of the tank, there will probably be a lever valve somewhere, can you post a photo?
