I am regularly kind of in awe at the ecological and egalitarian ambition of the political forces they imagine compared to the ones that actually exist in reality.

Agreed - I've found the German system is pretty resilient against this so far since many of the weak points AI is exploiting are the newfangled pedagogy of the last thirty years that has never arrived here.
