This interview with the great @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social was a "wow" moment for me. Thanks, New York Times and David Marchese.

I couldn't help noticing the question that seemed the most Times-like to me.

‘Hey’ came before ‘hi,’ and ‘hi' came before ‘hello.’

‘Hi’ is most likely a variant of ‘hey.’

‘Hello’ is not related to either.

Goodbye.

Today makes 15 years since the day I was let out of the mental health clinic my mom put me in for being trans.

Every time I see new laws meant to stop trans kids, I think back to that time and how the experience didn’t make me cisgender. It just made me hate myself until I could finally be me

It's looking increasingly like these guys thought that if they could wreak more death and destruction than the other side then they would be respected as strong powerful men and they would "win" and that would make them big important heroes. Very possibly they had no rationale deeper than that.

Increasingly of the opinion that the correct answer to the Trolley Problem is "fuck you, why are you so fixated on finding reasons to justify killing people?"

Unpopular opinion: I legitimately despise the "Lindsey Graham is a self hating closeted gay/trans person" takes.

It blames an already marginalized group for the actions of a cishet white man with enormous privilege and plays into a right wing narrative of queer people being violent.

When we talk about genocides in the U.S., there are the many genocides of tribal nations that have been ongoing for centuries. There is also the genocide of Black people, the conditions of which have never gone away. This can be useful historical context for things happening now.

I am a man, entirely raised by strong women.

I am a feminist, and love breaking stereotypes--including those encoded by going through the wrong puberty

Believe it or Not (heh)

Also, Sigourney Weaver kicked absolute ASS in 'Alien'-AND- saved the cat, what a queen, & the annoying cis men got wrekd

I know people are very sensitive about the use of the word “genocide” but the attempts to medically eliminate trans children is very clearly meets the standard because they are trying to eliminate a population and also they know some of those kids are going to kill themselves

2) Our existence is a threat to some key societal hierarchies. Our organizing is as well.

A strict, patriarchal gender binary is key to the gentry's grip on power. Even trans people just wanting to live our lives is a threat to that (incredibly evil) social order, because it reveals it for a lie...

I really, really don't like "oh trans people are just a tiny powerless population with no impact on anything, all these laws are just a distraction" tack and believe it's detrimental to the fight for our liberation, for several reasons.

So...🧵

A friend tells me a 2-bedroom apartment they looked at in Cambridge, MA is 6800/month. I’m sure to move would also require first, last, and security ($20,400). That doesn’t cover moving costs.

Who is affording this? Who can afford this?

Diaper pantries and food banks are running on fumes these days. Signing up for a recurring gift of $25/month can make a genuine, substantial difference on the ground.

I even had ideas back when I was 5. I kept indicating that something was wrong to my parents, who were very confused mind you. There was no language for it then.

God I wish I had the chance the trans kids do today. And I'll keep fighting for them to keep that chance.

Whats worse... even with all of this, it's nowhere near as good as it could have been if I had access to care when I was young.

I knew who I was back then. So many of us do.

They deserve the chance I never got to have.

The reason I fight so hard for trans kids is because I was a trans kid myself. I knew who I was in the year 2000, 12 years old, behind my computer, using the name Erin. I wanted puberty blockers so badly. My body shifted and changed in horrifying ways that I suffered for 15 years over.

yeah. I knew I was trans in preschool, whether or not the society around me acknowledged the existence of others like me (it did not).

Parents: Don't Hide Your Children's Autism Diagnosis From Them — THINKING PERSON'S GUIDE TO AUTISM since I didn’t know about my autism diagnosis, I just assumed there was something wrong with me and that I deserved what I got.

Parents, pls tell your autistic kids they are autistic: "You may think that an autistic child won’t notice they are different than their non-autistic peers; I have not met one autistic person (me included) who hasn’t noticed their difference early in life."
