On the right of the image is a sheer cliff face marked with vertical striations; talus lies at its base. The left of the image is in almost total darkness, and the background is deep space.

This is a cliff on comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko.

It's about 1 km tall.

If you jumped from the top, it would take you 47 minutes to reach the bottom, and you'd probably be OK.

Oh, I've been waiting for this one! I didn't want to read this digitally, but paperbacks were impossible to find for a sane price.

Btw, if you want to support Katie's tumor treatment and get something in return, you can also buy my books (esp off Itch since I get paid sooner than other retailers).

Eye is only twitching a little bit after entering my payment info four times in a row because in the year of Luigi 2026 we don't have a shopping basket function for some reason... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜

Would buying books also help? Specifically on Itch where you can request payouts at will? Because the Reanimator series has been on my TBR for a while, so this might be an opportune time to dive in.

I know this is, money-wise, the absolute worst time to ask for donations, but I made a thing for Katie's treatments. They'll be rather expensive, and I don't want to not do it because she's still young and spritely and this could be almost curative.

There is a HUGE difference between "this story began life as fanfic and has the serial numbers filed off" and "this story is fanfic and has the serial number filed off", and I doubt anyone is going to take the time to understand that.

A post of book recommendations based on the Rainbow Crate April 2026 theme. Twenty books in four rows: the first and fourth row have six book covers which stretch across the entire width of the graphic. Rows two and three have four books with two on each side. In the middle of these is a dark graphic with a yellow light bulb on the left and a purple light bulb on the right. A Rainbow Crate logo with no text is at the top. Text below reads β€œApril 2026 Light vs Dark Book Recs” in all caps. β€œLight” is in a yellow neon font, β€œvs Dark” is in a purple neon font, while all other text is in white font.

🌈 Hey Reading Rainbows! It’s time for our recommendation post for next month’s theme! Here are twenty books that we think also fit the April theme of Light vs Dark! These are a mix of Adult and Young Adult titles.

Ah, but you see, all those people demanding laws like this are so pure and straight-laced that they never did anything wrong or illicit or even mildly questionable in their entire lives πŸ˜‡

We all know it's bullshit, but as long as it furthers *someone's* agenda, we'll just pretend it works Β―\_(ツ)_/Β―

I suppose that's supposed to curb creepy DMs? But it's also easy to take things off the platform, so πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

None of this is thought through in any way. It's all just doing something for its own sake, so you can claim that you tried to protect the kids as ordered.

This is why "default to underage" baffles me. So in order to protect children from predatory adults, they specifically set it up so that *everyone* appears to be a child unless they specifically choose to reveal themself as an adult.

How. How does that flag predators, this makes no sense, wh-

I have no idea what they expected after decades of teenagers simply subtracting 18 from the current year to access porn sites.

This has never worked, and will never work. Just ask the approximately six million Norman Reeduses on Discord right now.

Like, if you're specifically looking for litfic that's fine, whatever floats your boat. But claiming that it's somehow separate from the concept of genre itself is just wild.

"No spec fic, literary only" means the exact same thing but makes 300% more sense.

Eternally mystified by book requests like "please no genre fiction, litfic only".

What do you think literary fiction is. Are we still buying into this nonsense that "literary" isn't a genre because some people are so embarrassed by the *idea* of genre that they have to pretend they're immune to it.

Writing in a public space, I was approached by someone who commented on my fast typing, and I explained I was a writer working on a manuscript.

"Oh, how cool. What are you writing?"

Oh my god. I got some brand-name pyjamas a while back while they were on sale, as a little treat.

Literally 3/4 of them are falling apart while I'm wearing them. Not even kidding, I just watched a new hole appear in this one while I was sitting on the couch.

Brand names are a joke >.>

This isn't rocket science. It was never a case of "power corrupts, and absolute power blahblahblah". He just realised that presidential power made him immune to consequences and started doing all the shit he's always wanted to do.

He was always like this. He just got handed the tools to act on it.

Easy. First term, he still had smart people around him whose advice he took *some* of the time, and was afraid of consequences.

Then he realised that as the president he's basically untouchable, and second term, he started doing all the shit he's always wanted to do but was too chickenshit to try.

I've seen people wonder why Trumpelstilzchen's first term didn't come with the same amount of chaos and destruction that his second term is creating right now. After all, he could've already done it before. Clearly, something has changed, but what?

Narratively having Ever Given getting stuck in 2021 to set up Hormuz in 2026 is great foreshadowing. You want your audience to understand the basics of international shipping in a lower stakes context so you drop the real plot without a lot of saggy exposition about the minutiae of cargo logistics.
