04.10.2025 18:24 โ ๐ 10 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Just figured it out: Geese sound like the Stones and Thinking Fellers Union Local 282 genetically fused together, like in Cronenberg's The Fly. It's a good thing. Great stuff.

Without sounding like any of them, they remind me, in spirit, of Roxy Music, Sly And The Family Stone, Kraftwerk, The Stooges, Can.
It's just a vibe. I cannot back it up with rational discourse.
More about Geese.... when they want to be a country rock band, they are the best country rock band, but then they leave it all behind to become abrasive and angular, and it all feels fluid. Not like they're trying to leap from genre to genre.
Great stuff.
I heard they're entering their Geese phase.

Or something to that effect...
I believe she played her entire next album, mixed in with older stuff, and all the new songs were as good as 'the hits'. So.... Courtney Barnett's best album coming soon!

When you have completely forgotten the melody of the song, that is the time to write the melody.
Whatever was worth keeping will still be there.
Writing and arranging a song is like trying to move a futon by yourself.
It is THAT easy.

Early early James. Still my favorite song from them. Some Echo and the B, some Smiths, all James.

I once thought it would be funny to do a TV performance holding an instrument I never play but then I realized Mark Volman did it in 1967.
Also, those crazy high falsetto back up vocals he and Howard Kaylan did on T-Rex records still blow my mind.
RIP to an original.

Finished a big project today.
As you were.
Maybe this is obvious but... I have found... in my experience....
If a part couldn't be the loudest thing in the mix, it shouldn't be in the mix.
