Pete Hegseth is openly calling on Trump-friendly oligarchs to take over the media while unshackling the military from the "rules of engagement" he hates so much. What he really wants is a world in which horrors like the school bombing don't ever fully come to light.

I guess he got what he needed from public service, and is ready to return to and protect his private interests.

President Donald Trump has blamed the recent attacks on the “genetics” of the suspects.

“They’re sick people, and a lot of them were let in here. They shouldn’t have been let in. Others are just bad. They go bad. Something wrong. There’s something wrong there. The genetics are not exactly— they’re not exactly your genetic," Trump said in an interview with Brian Kilmeade that aired Friday on Fox Radio. Rep. Randy Fine, R-Fla., who had already faced backlash for an anti-Muslim post last month, wrote on X Thursday: “We need more Islamophobia, not less. Fear of Islam is rational.”

Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., said in a series of posts on Thursday that no country is “freer and safer because Muslims moved there,” and he called “immigration” a “national security threat.” Earlier this week, he wrote that “Muslims don’t belong in American society.”

Also on Thursday, Rep. Brandon Gill, R-Texas, called for “No more Muslims immigrating to America."

And Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., shared a post featuring a side-by-side photo of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who is Muslim. Google News search for the story, showing coverage from NBC and a bunch of smaller outlets

Is NBC really the only major news outlet covering this overtly anti-Muslim (and eugenicist) rhetoric from Trump and his Congressional cronies?

Wall Street Bankers Offered Lucrative Access to Join the Pentagon

1/What is happening at the Pentagon? Wall Street recruiters promise positions that "gain access to fund-raising channels that include royal families and foreign sovereign contacts". This is not military contracting but rebuilding the state around neo-royalism.

ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose ‘targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

I feel like it should be more widely unpopular that in the past year we’ve witnessed the creation of an American Stasi required to meet arrest quotas who utilize an AI technology created by a company run by a sweaty raisin of a billionaire who thinks Greta Thunberg is the antichrist.

Raging at Media, Pete Hegseth Just Said the Quiet Part Out Loud He wants “patriotic” coverage of the Iran War. He doesn’t understand: in a democracy, coverage that asks difficult questions of the government is itself “patriotic.”

Pete Hegseth wants to live in a world in which the US military can drop bombs on scores of children and face no serious media scrutiny for it. His vile claim that he can't wait for David Ellison to run CNN shows he pines for oligarchic control of media.

You can't understand deportations without understanding immigration courts. And right now, those courts are in crisis with new rule changes that could make things significantly worse. 🧵

Lawyers deliver closing arguments in landmark social media addiction trial After about a month of hearing from addiction experts, therapists, platform engineers and executives, including Mark Zuckerberg, 12 jurors are listening to closing arguments before deciding whether so...

The case, along with two others, has been selected as a bellwether trial, meaning its outcome could impact how thousands of similar lawsuits against social media companies are likely to play out.

They are buying up nursing homes.

These white supremacists with no empathy will be in charge of caring for at least some of the elderly in our population.

Trump ended the IRS Direct File program that allowed millions of taxpayers to file taxes for free.

That happened after Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, lobbied the government to block the IRS from launching its own program.

Intuit also donated $1 million to Trump’s inauguration.

See how this works?

Holy shit - this would be very, very bad:
"The databases, called “Numident” and the “Master Death File,” include records for more than 500 million living and dead Americans, including Social Security numbers, places and dates of birth, citizenship, race and ethnicity, and parents’ names."
