In Michigan, there were terrible roads for years with a Republican govt. When it was pointed out that the cost of terrible roads was an average $3000 per year in repairs per vehicle (tires, shocks, struts, damaged wheels, car accidents) Democrats were elected - roads got fixed. Damage was reduced
