This reminds me of my first zoom meetings on a contract job at the tail of the pandemic. I didn't speak in riddles per se, but I might as well have.

the sphinx doesn't mean to speak in riddles. she's very isolated, out there in the desert, and sadly her communication skills were never great even before they deteriorated. also low blood sugar makes it worse.
