unfortunately tho they made a successful run of this game's limited continues mode like 2.5 hours long so i don't think i will ever finish it on this mode. plz make arcade games like 30 minutes long again! i am bad!!

nvm i found out they put a custom mode into this game where u can replace the meter with the sor2 "spend health to do supers" system and i like this game again. i also found out the same dipswitches let u make the enemy ai aggression super cracked. footsies!!!

if the point of FF8 isn't to be perfect but just to make me think about like 800 different random system mechanics it's messing with then it might win the Most Inspiring Game Ever award. it's like the jrpg version of the "every level in this platformer could've been its own indie game" compliment

when you have to beat a boss in 10 minutes and your strongest moves against it cost the most time 💥💥💥

sometimes it feels like literally every classic ATB squaresoft game doesn't really play towards the system's strengths. FF8 also isn't playing into it 100% of the time, but its the one where i'm the most like "you could probably make a 10/10 indie rpg if you just stole all that game's gimmicks"

the framing of "we made a mode where we got watanabe to find someone who made music that sounds sorta like his dead friend's music" is more offensive to me than if they just added nujabes' music to the game without being able to ask for his permission. so fucking weird. we gotta kill video games

feels like FF7 antiquated them with a bunch of interesting ideas, and then FF8 is from start to finish just has total mastery of mixed media technique. so many cool moments with text boxes, camera angles, zoom ins or body acting. it's like theater + movies + comics. video games can be anything

they are not subtle, nonono not at all but, they rely on obfuscating what the correlation is to feel Confusing and Large and Elaborate

what i like about silent hill f's lore notes is that a lot of them are far from the center of the story (telling you about families you don't know any members of, ancient events, minor character drama) in a way that feels like it's drawing the plot's outer coating and painting in a spiral inwards
