The EO that included restoring monuments/memorials on federal property is a full-on embrace of Confederate ideology. Beginning Monday @uncpress.bsky.social will make my book No Common Ground available to read FOR FREE for the next two weeks. Educate yourself about what this embrace means. ✊

Marbury v Madison is a seminal case from 1803 that holds that the federal courts must determine the constitutionality of the actions of the other two branches of government. Hope that helps, Stephen.

A student on Bruen/gun rights: "I know Roberts said SCOTUS should be an umpire calling balls & strikes, but this felt more like a base runner going spikes up into 2nd & destroying the shortstop’s ankle while the umpire just shrugs & looks the other way because that’s how Ty Cobb would have done it."

Libraries are one of the most radical social institutions we have, because they’re based on the idea that *everyone* has the right to information, for free. It’s also what makes them crucial to democracy. I will never stop yelling about this!

Anyone still want in? Interested in the history of the Civil War era. This is a dynamite group of historians that cover a great deal of ground. I love the fact that I can use social media to engage historians, who have taught me so much over the years. πŸ—ƒοΈhttps://go.bsky.app/PvxCKyk

Oppose the Inclusion of H.R. 6408 in H.R. 9495. Text SIGN PCDICI to 50409 to send this to your officials.

"Imagine a future in which Donald Trump gets to choose which non-profits are allowed to exist and any non-profit he, or JD Vance, doesn't like can be labelled a terrorist org and stripped of its tax exempt status."

That's what we need to stop today.
