25.01.2026 02:08 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0I disagree. The fandoms that tend to be the most self destructive are ones that try to push out any criticism. Sometimes things are flawed and thatโs fine.

24.01.2026 19:45 โ ๐ 1418 ๐ 212 ๐ฌ 7 ๐ 0I actually do agree that some fandoms can be so negative it can transform into something toxic (or even dangerous) but my issue is that example 2 of a person is not that big of a deal. Thereโs a difference between โguy whoโs annoyed with a franchise but keeps to themselvesโ and โfull on harasserโ
24.01.2026 19:17 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0OH no Iโm sorry sorry, I realized my response came off pretty passive aggressive. I meant it as in โI donโt mind if someone complains all the time because I can just block themโ. I just donโt believe in putting in so much energy in caring about people having a more negative experience than you

22.01.2026 19:45 โ ๐ 1836 ๐ 247 ๐ฌ 15 ๐ 0Both types of these people can be pretty insufferable. But my point is that fan 2 is not some miserable tar pit, sometimes people like to critique things heavily while still engaging with a work. If theyโre not going out of their way to bother people, then whoโฆ cares?
24.01.2026 15:15 โ ๐ 2 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Then block them.
24.01.2026 15:13 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0I would usually agree but if someone is willing to break down their issues with a game to the point of thinking of ways on improving it, that does sound like they are genuinely trying to analyze a work of media
24.01.2026 06:21 โ ๐ 4 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah Iโm not really fond of this idea that people who criticize something harshly are just miserable. A lot of people have fun picking apart things they enjoy or feel frustrated by.
24.01.2026 05:51 โ ๐ 12 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Same. I think the first time is pretty reasonable but โputs creator on a pedestal/develops an emotional relationshipโ feels a bitโฆ concerning. I canโt tell you how many fans will be viciously defensive of a creator only to turn around and and rip them apart
24.01.2026 05:42 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Yeah like, okay donโt get me wrong. I do think if you insist youโre going to โfixโ something you should deal with critique. But why does heaven people act like they havenโt had a moment where they thought about ways to fix a story they enjoyed? Fix it Fics are a thing for a reason
24.01.2026 05:35 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Pretty much. I think people really need to feel comfortable with dealing with fans they donโt agree with but are ultimately harmless. Itโs why a lot of fanbase that are super anti criticism ultimately self implode, because they just start eating their own.
24.01.2026 05:04 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Same. I have a joke with my friends that my dragon ball love is 80% genuine love for the series and 20% โToriyama you didnโt need to write that inโ
24.01.2026 04:47 โ ๐ 25 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Who cares tbh
24.01.2026 04:46 โ ๐ 3 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 2 ๐ 0Itโs not โabnormalโ. People will complain nonstop about things they enjoy. It becomes an issue when that toxicity extends to harassment towards fans. But judging by the image itโs literally just a guy minding their own business lmao
24.01.2026 04:45 โ ๐ 11 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Yeah thatโs the funny part. They seem to think people who are very critical of the thing they like are miserable, but a lot of these people are a lot happier because they donโt have to pretend the thing they like is flawless. Like oh no, they keep their rants to private servers. The horror.
24.01.2026 02:49 โ ๐ 21 ๐ 1 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Iโve noticed that. I stopped expressing some of my opinions on shows I watched on Twitter because no matter How many times you emphasize โI like this thing but I wish this could be betterโ you will be ripped to shreds and called some kind of bigot. Media discussion is so unbearable nowadays.
24.01.2026 02:44 โ ๐ 47 ๐ 2 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Like for me personally Iโd rather have someone dislike the same thing I like but enjoy certain aspects. Rather than someone who is basically bullied out of the community because people think they can control how you feel about a piece of media.
Some of you guy are too grown to care about this.
I think it only crosses a line when they go out of their way to harass the creator or fans of the series.
Also from personal experience Iโve had way more unpleasant interactions with Thing #1 type of fan than #2. People who develop parasocial relationships with creators tend to be veryโฆ unhinged.
The second one is pretty normal for fans and I donโt know why people treat it like this bizarre, confusing scenario.
Sometimes you can enjoy a piece of media and fall out of love with it. Sometimes you dislike a piece of media but like aspects of it.
This is completely normal.
