I was once heckled by a mime. Fiction editor, scunner, CIEP APM, she/her.

My messy desk includes huge cup of tea, a hilariously spelled shortcuts crib I bought off TikTok, post it notes, external hard drive full of old files I don’t need, and my fun lovin crime writers badge that went through a 60 degree wash. CIEP conference countdown clock on my screen says 00:00:00:00, for today is the big day. #CIEP25

Today’s the day! Poised at my messy desk with some tea, mere seconds till #CIEP25.

This can’t be thirty years ago. I refuse to believe it.

Sounds good! Weeds are my garden these days. Ah well, the bees like it.

Since I became an orphan, which is my new personality, I’ve lost a lot of motivation for things. But today I’ve had coffee, hoovered, and sat in the sun. Any other suggestions welcome.

I’ll maybe scan a few. Good idea. Maybe the handmade ones.

My memory that I was hugely gifted at art has also been rectified.

She kept all of my school jotters too. They are mostly in the recycling now. My maths teacher’s comments were good though so I kept one of those. Lots of synonyms for ‘disappointing’.

Shouldn’t come as a huge shock that no one is going to care about my primary school report cards when eventually I pop off.

Going through all these things, and knowing there’s very little space to store anything, is like a further bereavement.

She and I were similarly minded about keeping ‘treasures’. Over the past few years I’ve been trying to force myself to part with things.

Also… what the hell should I do with them?

My mum, who died in August, has kept every single card that I ever sent her. I’ve cried so much I’m a husk.

I will try not to overdo it.

Hello.

It took all my energy and imagination to come up with that.

Three scientists stand before a workbench.
On it are a computer, tools and some laboratory glassware. they are made of chunky pixels the size of golf balls.
One of the scientists says “our budget has been cut so from now on we’ll be working with low-res equipment”.

Is there any editor in the world who proofreads PDFs who hasn’t had to ‘Disable new Acrobat’?

One post in four months is not prolific. It does, however, reflect my energy levels.

Editor, control your crotchets Editors are human beings, though you may have been told otherwise, as susceptible to idiosyncratic preferences about language as anyone else...

Editors should stop doing what's not worth doing.

Good morning to EVERYONE, but especially Michael and Miranda, whose story is OUT NOW!! These two have my heart - a go-getting American movie star and a hopelessly lost former paparazzo from Up North - and I can't wait for you to get to know them better 💙

Two silver-tipped British shorthairs with adorable, fluffy, squishy faces sitting peaceably next to each other because snacks are about to happen. The most beautiful hairy girls in the world.

Another platform on which to spread my undeniable professionalism.
