what they have done. i feel like this is just undeniable proof to me she DOES hold immense guilt for everything she does, and is nearing the end of her will to live. there is some more i could go into detail, but all in all ive yapped too much SOB so i hope you understand her a bit more now
i SPECIFICALLY wanna talk about the latter one, because it very much is outis truly believing that there is no redemption for her: she deserves to be punished for what she has done. this, again, ties in with her dialogue in canto 7: asking dante if they would still forgive a sinner no matter (9/?)
truly believes that she deserves the end that is coming for her. specifically, this line in the ego, for her 6th bullet corrosion:
"I'll be left alone in this inferno at the end of the road."
and her 3rd bullet:
"There's no going back when I've come this far by firing the bullet." (8/?)
specifically, this line, "It will fly past all those that the child loved, even those that she loved when she could not.." it is certainly a very interesting piece of dialogue. i wanna talk about how the main theme of both the id and the ego is the acceptance of her fate— that outis (7/?)
in my eyes, this is clear of the fact that she is absolutely unable to come to terms with her past
returning on her guilt and magic bullet, i think that der freischutz and magic bullet is really the key to understanding outis, so i wanna talk about her uptie story (6/?)
claiming that "its not just a watch" (id also like to mention that she had a watch on every id without exception)
again, we see her projecting again in canto 7, she gets mad at don for "hiding" her past when outis is the only sinner whose past is confidential and cannot be shared (5/?)
id like to take this moment to talk about how outis LOVES to project onto others;
we see her in canto 1 tell yuri that taking aya's mask as a keepsake is stupid, but in yield my flesh to claim their bones, don comments on outis' watch, the latter immediately getting defensive, (4/?)
next.. outis holds immense guilt for a lot of the things she has done.
this is pretty obviously seen through the canto 7 dungeon after don quixote is revealed to be a bloodfiend to the sinners, and also in her magic bullet ego and id (3/?)
her binds ego (corrosion quote: "you dare question my authority..?!") and also her commenting on the rigid hierarchy of the thumb. this, in my opinion, is the aftermath of her time in the smoke war: she cannot see herself as any use other than a general, a commander, she is nothing at all (2/?)
this is probably the most obvious part of her character, but she has a HUGE obsession with authority. this can be seen through most of her dialogue, she is generally the first to assume authority in the absence of dante. she constantly obsesses over being a leader, and we can also see this in (2/?)

honestly i dont think im crazy at all for saying that the mass mischaracterization of outis is deeply rooted in misogyny but lets not get into that conversation today
i genuinely do not understand why people are so set on characterizing outis as this violent traitor-esque figure who would stop at nothing for her own benefit. like it feels really strange when the only real justification is that one line from her introduction and "shes mean"
