Personal news: I’ve kept quiet I was diagnosed w slow onset ALS in my 40s. Last year, my body decided to speed it up. This summer I declined quickly. I chose no medical intervention & started hospice last week.

We can’t depend on politicians to protect our constitutional rights. I hope more will do the work beyond strongly worded letters & expressing concern. It requires everyone to do what is required to protect our fundamental rights. Grass roots organizing needs to expand bc many are unsure what to do.
At this point, we have to assume the 1st amendment is not recognized by the regime. It doesn’t mean you roll over and accept what the regime is doing. It means you proceed knowing the cost and willingly do so because it’s the right thing to do.

This breaks my heart. Here’s the real-world harm of what has happened to one family whose mother was detained while at her immigration check in. She and her daughter (who sounds like a typical American young woman) were deported. Two months later, her mother has died.
